Exactly. He doesn’t tip and if his customers did the same as him, his staff would be shafted. What a twat!
It doesn't make sense mate, countries like Thailand, (where ginge is paying a tenner a day) depend on tips. Tipping is a massive part of the culture, even when the bird brings your drinks over, you always give a bit, even a 20 baht note, they all add up. I'm lost with Ginge's thinking here.
I don't think he's done much off the tourist thingy there, he just seems to have ended up in the jungle, bought some bird some land and built her house, Now lives alongside loads of people who have done the same, far away from any big city, and is going totally thai style..But even then, a lot of those tip. He says he goes down to places like bkk and pattaya, they must love him there no tipping.
They know if they give exceptional service they will mostly get a tip, if they don't then they need to up their game. I also don't allow the staff mobiles/handies when working.
So you buy a small chang for 60 baht £1.54 and tip 20 baht 51 pence? 33% Two week millionaire you are.
Yeah, I've done all the tourist thingy from Chang Mai to Surin, From living in Hua Hin for two years and seeing Phuket, Pattaya, Koh Samui, Krabbi etc. But thats for tourists. I'm not a tourist and yes I do live Thai style as do my few good friends. Sometimes less is more.
Interesting comments about tipping. Personally I would always tip in places where it is expected and the going rate, albeit I'd rather just everything be included as one price. Much like where they add the tax on at the till, and it's not listed in the price, it's a balls ache, just fooking add it on the tag!
