Agree about the dive but I don't think the tackle was dangerous or out of control. Late doesn't automatically equate to out of control.

It's not late though, he never made an attempt to win the ball so is clearly out of control. What happened to Gomez is unfortunate and not intentional, but it's easy to see how that's a red.

come on mate you cannot do that it's the rules … if you're sliding you're classed as no longer being in control. and the fact it's from behind means it's dangerous you cannot do it and that's nothing new btw

No its not.

Hth <ok>

If a player tripping a player from behind is a red then there will be a lot of reds in most games.
Mina did it to Alli when we were breaking and the ball was about 30 yards away from him.
Should that have been a red too, as it wasn't even given as a foul?

TBH the result means very little after what happened to him.

It was a trip...the guys leg seemed to get stuck in the turf....terrible injury but it was **** luck.

Players trip each other up in every game so, like I said, there will be countless reds if this is the standard.
The ref had it down as a yellow...then saw the injury and changed it.

Hope he recovers as quick as but it was not a red.

you can see why its a red surely though rcl?

He comes in from behind sliding. He doesn't catch him that hard from the looks of things but thats pretty dangerous either way. One of those where you can call it a yellow or a red with no complaints

what do you want people being able to make leg breaking tackles from behind because they think it's ok to do this ? that is a red card simple as that

Agree it's unfortunate and really feel for the lad. Hopefully he recovers fully from it but going to be tough.

Do disagree about it being a red though, like I say you see those sort of fouls every week n it's almost always a yellow which is what the ref originally gave.

Don't think we'd be having this discussion if it hadn't have resulted in such an awful injury.

Sorry mate but I'm inclined not to listen to somebody who says all slide tackles are classed as out of control.

All slides from behind are out of control

When was Son ever brave enough to slide into an opponent who could see it coming?
