Following on from RC's Local bands Six of the best at Steels did anyone ever see Talisman amongst others he fronted with Davey Ditchburn singing? Superb.

Aye what a singer he was. Often wondered how he never made it.

Sad reality. My uncle was the drummer in a 70s group called Goldie. Got on top of the pops in 78 with this:

they used to play clubs all over the north as well. That was what bands used to do back then!! Some great singers who’ve never got much further than club singers. And that’s even more difficult now cos of ****ty talent shows!!

Going to see a populat beat combo called the Macc Lads next week.
They have tunes about relationships, imbibing and general culture. Should be a lovely evening.

Yes I remember that song. Never seen them on the club scene. There were some great bands, Six of the Best, Whizkid, Alexander’s Palace, The Force, Life Support, but I do wonder how Davy Ditchburn didn’t make it. He could sing anything and had that look that made him stand out.
When you think of that Geordie lad who fronted ac/dc and could only scream ( Brian Johnson) made millions Davy and the Pallion Stallion must be scratching their heads thinking wtf ?

Nah. 20 minutes? No way. Probably the most over-hyped performance ever. I've seen loads that were better TBH, over more than 40 years of gigs.

Remember Goldie from the club scene - GREAT DAYS!!
My fave at the time was GEORDIE, fronted by the famous Brian Johnston. Couldn’t believe it when he got the AC/DC job, when Bon Scott sadly died.
Was at that 73 Deep Purple gig - brilliant.
My 1st ever gig was Status Quo supported by Montrose who were outstanding!!

The best gig I did go to, kicking and screaming mind - was Kid Creole & The Coconuts in the “Houseboat Party” times. No support band, just them for a superb 2.5 hours. An Unbelievable Show.

Haven't been to a concert for years, but the best I will always remember was the Rolling Stones free concert at Hyde Park in 1969. I was living darn sarf at the time, still at school and hitchiked to London meeting mates at Eros in Piccadilly. Blazing Hot Day, never actually saw the stones but just laid on the grass at the back just experiencing/listening to everything. Hells Angels were policing the event that day/ It was just an occasion to savour

But they only had 20 minutes and the people there were not exclusively their fans but they won them all over. That's what made it so good.

Sundrland played a game in london that weekend. I was wth four mates. Got in free at St James as well as I was erecting scaffold there. Getting mixed up Hyde Park was in July.

I've seen the likes of The Stones, Pink Floyd, Genesis, in massive stadiums, but the concerts I've enjoyed the most have been small local bands playing in little venues, where it's a good atmosphere. I remember having a cracking time at Uni in Newcastle in the early 80s watching bands like Dance Class, and Arthur 2 Stroke.

My cousin's husband was also in a local NE band called the Fettlers. That's a bit before my time, but my sister has good memories of their gigs.
