If I remember right that was a change, that basically if it his a hand it was a penalty, not just var to blame just a stupid rule.
If that's not handball then expect defenders to throw their arms out wide in front of every shot because why not
Yet again I find any spontaneous excitement at a last-minute winner inhibited by the wait to see if the goal has been allowed to stand. The whole experience has been radically altered for me, and I really don't like it.
his arm was in a perfectly natural position considering his body movement . A slight giveaway that it wasn't a pen was our players weren't that peeved when it wasn't allowed .
It's also natural to throw your arms up if you make a diving save so are defenders allowed to do that now too? How about standing on the line jumping up and down with your arms out for balance? Natural too?
What incident are you talking about? I don't remember any significant penalty claim, and I haven't seen any highlights as yet. I remember the ball hitting a hand at one point, but it didn't look like a pen to me. I was more pissed off with Firmino's effort being ruled out by the width of a midge's dick, tbh.
Aside from the debates about the implementation of it, which is a separate thing, this is the bit I don't think I'll ever get used to and why I'm against var as a principle. We've lost something special imo and a lot of fans don't even realise it. Going to our cup match at Fratton without it only made me realise it more.
They appealed for it then played on knowing they'd have a better chance of making a goal themselves than getting any decision from Moss and Atkinson. We had to score two of the cleanest goals ever to make sure PGMOL couldn't invent a reason to disallow it. Do you think the offside rule was intended to argue that Firmino's armpit was marginally offside, but only when viewing it from a diagonal camera angle with straight lines that don't take focal length into account? Meanwhile Villa had 3 players offside on their goal but I guess they were only running into the box to celebrate the upcoming goal not intending to play the ball themselves... There is nothing "natural" about elite level sports. Every movement is practised. Our players are perfectly capable of putting blocks in without flailing their arms around like a character on Sesame Street. There no chance Villa wouldn't have got a penalty at the other end if Lovren had done that.
The line they have put out is not straight neither Take a ruler and put it alongside the line on corresponding angle Was stunned at result !
