I get a perverse amount of enjoyment from the top bullet point on the BBC's live text: "Man Utd bidding for back-to-back league wins." Plucky little United trying to string some points together.
VAR really is making football a joke. I was one that thought technology was needed but if this is the best we can do i say scrap it and go back to just goal line technology.
Interesting one this. Look how well Bournemouth have done the past couple of years. They have certainly had a nulber of stand out individuals (King, Ake, Fraser, Wilson) yet they have all stayed at the club. This has allowed Bournemouth to steadily build and look at them now. Why is it that when we went through a similar period, every single player that looked good was sold off to a bigger club?
I would say that it is a combo of none of the big teams REALLY wanting the players and that we had made it clear we were happy to sell if the price was right. Even allegedly using it as a selling point to attract players in the first place
So, do we think that B'mouth have knocked back any serious interest? Fraser seems to think he can get a bigger club, and they have plonked him on the bench. Brave.
As I say I think it’s a combo of the two. If Bournemouth were making it known that their asking price for Fraser was, say, £30m then I think there would be serious interest for him. If they are saying £50m then probably there wouldn’t be any. We were happy to sell the majority of the players we let go, making promises etc about when they could leave so it makes it far easier for the buying team to negotiate
The players we had were always going to go to bigger clubs. Van Dijk and Mane in particular are in a different league to any of those Bournemouth players.
This ^^^^ Mane & Van Dijk are probably amongst the best in the World in their positions, not just the Premier League.
Well of course if you just look at those two, but unfortunately it isn't just those 2 that we have sold! Mane and Van Dijk were clearly very special, but what about the likes of Lovren, Lallana, Clyne, Fonte, Wanyama, Schneiderlin, Shaw, Lambert? The Bournemouth players mentioned are of a similar or better level to that lot for sure.
