Couldt say mate, I've not spent a minute studying the race, I just know Sistercharlie is top class at this level and these conditions.
Warren Gatland was right. England played their Final against New Zealand. Patriotic punters have paid for the bookies’ Christmas parties. Smart punters backed South Africa +5 on the handicap (and hoped that England would squeak a tight game). Congratulations to whomever it was that posted the other day that they had backed the Springboks but would be happy to see their bet lose.
Uni has a good chance I think, the pace and trip will decide between her and Got Stormy, got stormy has more tactical speed and that has proved vital in the mile turf races so far
The outsider was Bowies Hero, but he won the G1 Shadwell Turf Mile not long after that please log in to view this image
Great value on that loser, sistercharlie not at her best there. Bad overconfidence not studying a race because I had my bet on months ago and up a few quid last few days.
What a season Mitole, brilliant horse, hes best at 7f but that was a harakiri from the jap horse, done a number on Shancelot there and finished out with the washing. Shancelot is a champion sprinter over the next few years I think, only 3yo and started late, has so much speed but doesn't want a yard further than 6f.
Just the one bet for me tonight. I thought it worth opposing Bricks And Mortar purely because he has not raced at 12F and until they prove they get a new trip it is a question mark. I didn't think much of this year's Derby and Anthony Van Dyck was no real factor at the Breeders Cup when favourite last year. I felt Old Persian was worth a pop here and although he didn't quite come forward from winning the Sheema Classic, he has some decent form and a good record of nine wins in sixteen starts. Prone to the odd stinker he has raced in several countries during his career and I thought he would go close tonight, perhaps staying more strongly than the favourite. 11.40 Old Persian 7/2 or better if available.
Some horse Bricks And Mortor, G1 9f to 12f unbeaten season. Pulled all the way as well and still had something left. AVD looked unlucky but somehow managed to find trouble despite a perfect trip to the straight. Old Persian, fancied by some to win the Arc, well out of his depth seemingly and might be back to Dubai for him. Poor renewal of the race but the winner is a good horse in his own right and better over shorter, cant knock the season hes had, been at it since the pegasus meeting. 1 winner for the euros and sent packing, yet our horses will be dominate the antepost betting again next season.
Yes Old Persian was a wild shot for the Arc. Still managed to find the winner Waldgeist though. 16/1 pays for a few losers.
You knew mckinzie was cooked when the tail started swishing, can see why they went for it in a weak looking renewal but it's been obvious for a while hes not a 10f horse, maybe finishing 2nd in the classic is better than winning the dirt mile anyway. Code of Honor was my Derby horse from very early on but didnt fancy him at all tonight, hes a horse for next season and he was beaten fair and square by vino rosso last time, Santa anita not his track either. Vino Rosso was always just a solid horse, hes improved a lot this season tbf but again I have to say it wasnt a vintage renewal.
If any of you are wondering what the Hecky Pecky happened here, I backed these 3. Sorry to all Stick’s fans.
I watched the Ascot bumper and I don't think I've ever seen a fatter horse than Sonru line up in an NH race. The ATR commentator said it wasn't a particularly flattering camera angle .
I have never seen a horse lose so much ground in the space of 100 yards! I am hiding behind my quote of wanting to see money for it. My only glimmer was seeing the Hendo horse perform almost equally badly. Yesterday was my worst gambling day for a very long time.
He really did go out like a light didn't he. I don't know what the horse has been doing since joining Williams. Mostly eating by the look of him.
