(re-posted from the Lyle Taylor thread) Our democracy is evolving, from a long established 2 party system (with Labour replacing the Whigs a century ago) to a multi-party assembly, where coalitions and alliances will become the norm. This is why I would really like to see a brand new Circular Parliament chamber here, in the style of many other modern democracies. The current bipolar format of the House of Commons does not serve the nation well, except as a living museum piece. And we also need a second elected chamber, based on proportional representation. We should not be afraid to embrace modern democracy, and look to the future. We have clearly seen over the past three years that our Westminster Parliament, both in its architecture and in its creaking, 18th century habits, is no longer fit for purpose.
