Mate you can't just have a vote and ignore the result due to legalities like that. 10s of millions voted in it. It's completely against the spirit of democracy and the individual choice at the ballot box, democracy will be undermined irreparably in Blighty if there isnt some form of Brexit.

I would agree with you IF the referendum had been worded differently.

That is what I've been saying my good proddie mate.
They called it a referendum but it was really a plebiscite.
    I blame the schools.

We were told in no uncertain terms that the result of the referendum would be implemented.

It's crass to start looking for way outs with shouts such as it's not legally binding and nobody knew what they were voting for.

The referendum was not legally binding

But the government did say they would implement the result

Probably because they didn't think leave would win ...

    It was unlikely

    However, 51.9% voted leave ...

That's shouldnt have been enough to implement a vote... You could attribute that to a margin of error .

A new vote should have been held...

It didn't , so based on the fact the were going to implement it a leave deal should have been agreed 2 years ago with last 2 years being the government etc preparing new laws ,rules, governement bodies etc to ensure we were prepared .

You do realise non-binding referendums and general elections are not the same thing, right?

Loads of seats have recounts due to margin of error ...

Parties ask for recounts a the time due to uncertainty over who won.

A 2 percent swing either way is dubios ...especially if you add in the fact that the process for counting is a manual process open to human error.

People counting for hours ...many many mistakes

If you applied process improvement methodology, such as lean six sigma, to the counting process in any election, you would find huge inconsistencies...
