yes, first bet Been Studying Her in the 6.55, race is restricted to California bred and she has G1 form in the book, not beaten far behind Bast in the CHandellier and drop back to 7f should be ideal, the main rival has looked best at sprint trips so far so quite confident about her winning with Mike Smith
Just as I was typing that post, the song Bulletproof came on on the radio, main danger is Bulletproof One, this sort of thing worries me greatly.
in the 7.32, the colts version of the Cali bred race, the sexy horse is Cali Dude after a good debut win, he looks decent but I think Square Deal has achieved more and his experience could count. He won his last 2 on dirt at Del Mar, disqualified despite winning easily by a few lengths in the first of them, and I think the drop back to 5f on turf last time was a strange move for him, I expect him to bounce back here at 7f on dirt and the jockey Flavian Prat is one of the main men at Santa Anita. This looks a harder race to call but I think Square Deal goes close.
In the first of the main races, the Juvenile Turf Sprint, ive been with Kimari all season and backed her at 11/2, I said I would be surprised if there was anything with the class to beat her in America but it turns out Ward has another monster. Loyalty has cost me in the past when knowing deep down there was a better case for something else, and I just cant get away from Four Wheel Drive. He won a stakes race on debut and broke the track record, then won easily at Belmont from a bunch of horses who had previously been impressive winners, they couldnt lay a glove on him. Hes very quick from the gates, unlike Kimari, and on this 5f course I think that could be vital. I dont think any of the European horses will have the early speed to take him on, Another Miracle will likely try and I think hes a very good outsider for an ew bet at 33s, but he was outclassed by Four Wheel Drive last time. I think Ortiz will bounce out and either try to make all or sit just off Another Miracle, and I think he will be very difficult to catch in the short straight. Anyone asking me before the last few nights id have given them Kimari, but I think Four Wheel Drive is the one to be on.
Tap Back wins easily at 14s, quite hard to find as he was well beaten 3rd to Square Deal 2 runs back.
That race reminded me of the RSA few years ago when it was obvious that Presenting Percy was the one on the ground, but I stayed loyal to a decent horse of De Bromheads because I had always liked him, learned my lesson and went strongly with Four Wheel Drive as it was impossible to get away from him all things considered.
I put up Decorated Invader at 11/2 a few days ago on another thread, hes my pick in the next My others for tonight are Wicked Whisper, Selflessly and Scabbard, the fillies races look very difficult and im just going for value against the two big favourites in the Juvenile, my strongest fancies were Been Studying Her and Four Wheel Drive. From the remaining races, Decorated Invader and Wicked Whisper are the two im most confident about but they are hard races to call.
Hit the Road was an impressive winner over C+D in a weaker race, hes the clear 3rd pick at 5/1 over there, double figures with our bookies could be worth an ew for anyone into that carry on.
Just read the statement from king . Really superb stuff including a robust slap down of the bobby sands brigade who persist in besmirching our clubs name at away games. Make no mistake he isn’t messing about . That man is fast becoming one of the most important figures in our history . The likes of morelos, katic, airbo, tav and barasic could generate us easily 70 odd million in sales in today's market. please log in to view this image
Structor won with a perfect trip last time and he got it again here in a very messy race, Decorated Invader was in all sorts of trouble getting buffeted around out the back and had to go about 10 wide round the bend, hes the one to take from the race id imagine. Moore was always going to have ride for luck from the draw on Arizona.
