Just seen on Sky Sports that he has had some fluid removed from his knee and maybe available for the weekend.

I hope we don't have another Gosling type situation where they rush him back too early, he plays half a game and then is out for an extended period. Same goes for Ben Arfa.

Benny won't play the full game against Forest and I doubt Santon will. I'd think given the Gosling and Ben Arfa situations, Pardew would be incredibly paranoid about bringing players back from injury

    It's a very simple arthroscopy.

I've had two in the past and the stitches are in for about 5 days. The procedure basically cleans out detritus that builds up in the knee from after a knee injury.

Pardew mentioned it could be a scarring issue so that would either be a small build up of hard tissue on a ligament/tendon or the knee cartilage itself has suffered a tear and the cartilage has a reduced amount of flexibility which is a potentially worse long term issue.

Not a chance he will play, Pardew seems suitably cautious about re-introducing players

If it's a scarring issue it will most likely be the second one, why would Inter sell one of their brightest prospects otherwise? They must know something we don't.

Gian Piero Gasperini is clueless. They also have Jonathan, Chivu, Faraoni, Nagatomo and a few other decent fullbacks.

Some of them are getting on a bit though.

Part from Chivu, the ones I mentioned are 25 or younger.

    True, but it's Italy...

Young players arent brought through anywhere near as well as they are in some other leagues. Players also play on a lot longer than they would elsewhere.

I cant see Santon playing against Blackburn at all though. Pardew said he only stands a chance of playing against Blackburn if he manages to do proper training this week after having his knee drained. Thats what they're hoping for... Although, why would Pardew risk rushing Santon back that quickly when Raylor isnt exactly costing us every game we play?

I dont want to be downbeat about the whole thing, but part of me already thinks he'll need this op and be out for a little while yet. Not as bas as Gosling, but we'll see...
