Yup...I agree with this. Tbf to Elliot, he’s also just a kid - I think he’ll be decent. Keita is a worry. I don’t think that’s he’s built for the premier league. Basically, we should have bought quality in the summer - strengthening our position as European champs was a necessity. If we get away with it until Christmas, then I hope we buy in the Jan window or we’ll get exactly what we deserve imo.
Liverpool are considering the possibility of fielding two teams in two competitions on the same day, with their Carabao Cup quarter-final against Aston Villa and Club World Cup semi-final potentially clashing. (Mirror)
I doubt we will do any business in Jan though certainly think we should be seriously looking at possible options .
I wouldn't judge any player on this game, we put out a mixed team and it showed (Arsenal too) Amazing that Keita is getting so much criticism, if he is to be judged on one game why not use the Genk game where he was excellent. The word is his substitution was precautionary so the 'Keita injured again' line is jumping the gun. One or two have even suggested selling him .............I suspect JK may disagree
I've not been overly impressed by him, and I'm not so shallow as to make a judgement based on one game. On the contrary, the sign of a good player is to perform consistently to a high standard, not to blow hot and cold. It may be that his problems are due to injury and in that sense he's unlucky, nevertheless it's understandable that fans are getting frustrated that we're not getting to see the player we thought we had. Like all players who aren't automatic first choice, he has to take his opportunity to show his quality whenever it comes along. So far he's been very frustrating. Perhaps he needs a run of games to learn to interact with his team-mates better, but how is he going to get that if he can't stay on the pitch? This isn't really about blame - it's wanting the best for the team. I'm not writing him off, or calling to get rid - I'm just becoming increasingly concerned that he's not going to make it - whatever the reason.
There is no doubt that he’s a little fragile though. Hope I’m wrong but if he’s not on the injury table now, he will be soon enough!
well it isn't the easiest window to buy in & we don't want rushed knee jerk buys so probably right but i hope we are at least looking at options..
Despite their age I think both Jones and Brewster are ready for first team bench appearances. Klopp will not rush development and I trust him but no purchases must mean he's happy with what he's got and does have a plan for these two, I'd like it to be similar to how he's used TAA.
My view is Klopp doesn't think any are ready for PL though may end up having to play Williams or Hoever if TAA/Robbo and a couple of midfielders are out .
I haven't checked the bench players so far this season so will take a guess that he's had no youngsters out there yet which would confirm what you say.
Well that’s my suggestion down the crapper then, apparently Prem will not move any of our games to accommodate the fixture congestion. For me this is interesting, I am certain Utd had two games moved for their participation in the WCC and were given a special exemption in the FA Cup. I am certain that whilst they were away their nearest competitors in the league dropped points and they returned in a really strong position with games in hand that were played at a convenient time later in the calendar. People then say we make the conspiracies up...
City also just recently got their PL fixture against Everton moved to give them more time to prepare for the CL. Manchester to Liverpool being such a long trip and all.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50263476 Klopp says no to two teams "It's not that we can go there with 11 players and say they play the two games in Qatar and the other guys play in England against Aston Villa. It doesn't work like that."
Well the prem have moved our game v West Ham so we’re already playing catch up form that. Prob don’t want to have to move 2 games and ya be even further behind.
