Because City have a million players that they spent an average of about £50m each on and they can rotate without losing much quality. They subbed on the most expensive right-back ever, who replaced the most expensive right-back ever two years ago, for example. They were also playing a team that lost 9-0 less than a week ago, who they play again on the weekend.
That's no reason for us not to care! It all started with Poch turning cup competitions into reserve games....and for our fans to spend oodles of money to watch...……..? Crap!
I'm not sure that this is particularly accurate, except when we get "easy" draws. The League Cup has seen us go out to Chelsea twice, Arsenal, Liverpool and West Ham during Pochettino's reign. This year's embarrassment is the exception. The FA Cup is similar, albeit with slightly weaker Premier League teams. Palace twice, Leicester, Man Utd and Chelsea have eliminated us.
Surely that's what Neil Back should've named his kid, given that played a major role in their conception?
Errm...you do remember that several pre-Poch managers had the exact same approach, such as Harry Redknapp fielding the reserves when we drew Arsenal in the Season Killer Cup a few years back - a trick he later repeated for an entire, if brief, Europa League campaign?
And the media always said - Spurs are a great cup team, but winning cups is easy the really good teams are ones that challenge and win matches consistently in the league that's your bread and butter and for most of Pochs time here we have been good at the bread & butter, but then in January someone switched to a low fat spread and we haven't been the same since!
No idea, but my daughter got her Echo Dot to play a selection of grime when we were away. The first song started "Two plus two is four, minus one is three..." It got more ridiculous - the lyrics were hilarious!
