I said some time ago that this guy Horner and his crew are creating a monster in Max. He is fast and a bit ruthless, which aren’t bad, but you have to be sensible. Remember the clash he had with Ocon? There was no reason to fight with Ocon. Ocon was lapped and Max was leading the race, so why go fighting? Max needs to pick his battles and learn you can’t win a race in the first corner. After the first corner Hamilton was about 5th after starting 3rd but went on to win. It isnt always about the first corner.
Also Max made a statement last season when Hamilton was fighting Vettel for the championships that he is happy Hamilton is afraid of his and when Hamilton sees him he has to move out the way, well, what he didn’t understand is World champions know how to pick their battles. When the championship is on the line you stay out the way of crazy people who are not in the fight and you gain valuable points. And I said that time that he will get a shock sooner or later when Hamilton hangs him out to dry Of they are in a championship fight. The moral is pick your battles carefully if you want to become a champion. If Max doesn’t learn that very soon he will be a very fast driver never to win a world championship. For instance, if you have a fast car but keep crashing you run the risk of not only failing to finish, you also run the risk of penalties...either for causing accidents or replacing parts, then you are losing points to your rivals. When will Max learn this? He is not a rookie anymore and don’t tell me about age because he has been in F1 for like four seasons now?
The real villains behind Max and his problems are his father, Horner and the Red Bull’s heads who make him believe that everything he does is right and he doesn’t need to respect the other drivers, F1 and the rules. They make him believe he has the right to chose if and when to obey yellow flags and other driver must pull up to a side once they see him coming. Like one of his fans said that they contact with Hamilton was Hamilton’s fault because Hamilton knows Max likes to get to the front as soon as possible and Hamilton knew that and chose to fight and wouldn’t let Max pass. Well if the how it is then wouldn’t max win every race? someone needs to sit down Max and read the riot act to him or else he will be an also ran in championship fights.

I don't think Ferrari were lacking race pace. Team organisation just wasn't there.

You're running one-two with a car that's a rocket in a straight line. How do you not make Hamilton pass at least one of them on track? Vettel's strategy had to be keeping track position at all costs.

Why was Leclerc covering Albon? Nice as he doesn't have race-winning pace yet. Then obviously the pitstop was the final nail in the coffin. He might have had a small chance at coming back before that.

Just a mess from a very winnable race.

It was winnable if they'd gambled correctly, no one knew the tyres would last, all the evidence was that they wouldn't. They'd been graining all weekend and the track had been de-rubbered on race-day by the rain, which meant they should have continued graining, but they didn't. I can't blame Ferrari for losing the race as it seemed, with all the data available pre-race, that Vettel had the right strategy.

His management team I think is his dad ?

If he wants to succeed , he needs to bin off his management team , but he won't .

I feel sad because for most of this season he seemed to have got the message and seemed more mature in and out of the car. Horner keeps pointing out that Monaco last year taught him a lesson. If it has then what happened this weekend was a failure of mental discipline more than anything else. He lost his head.

Either way, let’s hope this weekend taught him *another* lesson.

Maybe it will sink in when he gets a competitive car and doesn't win the WDC. at the moment it's costing him the odd podium and win in races the car has stood a chance, but he's never been in with a shout of the WDC, so there's been no real lasting effect after the race. Maybe he'll race differently when the cost of a bit of recklessness is a 25 point increase in the gap between him and a winnable WDC.

It's down to the stewards, they should've nipped it in the bud seasons ago, but the let him get away with weaving countless times and swiping people off. It doesn;t help that the media keep protesting any time he does get sanctioned, like when he clearly cut the corner to overtake Kimi in Austin.

Merc would definitely be interested. Lewis is 34.

Max has had a couple of bad races recently but he's still the second best driver of the year I'd say. Vettel and Leclerc may have spaced their errors across the season, but they're only 10 and 16 points ahead of a guy in a slower car.

Yeah, I think both teams would be interested. Maybe away from Horner's and Helmut's bubble, he would grow up with a more constructive arm around his shoulder to tell him when he is being a bit of a k**b, but also get the praise when it is deserved.

I feel, unfortunately his personality is too ingrained by his Dad for anyone to help him change. It's a pity as he has huge skill but he just can't seem to ever think he is wrong. Mmmm isn't that narcissistic personality traits?

Thinking about Max, didn't he receive a 'punishment' of spending a day with the marshals for hitting Occon last year?
Surely if he had earned anything, it would be that marshals only protection when on track is the yellow flags!!!!
Goes to show his original 'punishment' meant exactly nothing.
Also I do think Charlie (RIP) has a lot to answer to re yellow flags. He allowed the 'I lifted' defence to 'slowing down, prepare to stop' waved yellows!!! Ever since this 'lift' became custom and practice for drives seeing yellows the yellow flag has provided no protection to drivers or marshals on track.
This really needs to change. Maybe they should use the VSC system in the sector that has the danger in. OK so in Mexico it did happen very quickly, so quickly that Race Control hadn't even switched on the yellow maker boards or triggered the yellow indication on the steering wheels when Max went past a yellow and didn't lift.
My main problem was with his attitude. He didn't care that a driver or marshals were on the track. He says he saw Bottas but how did he know the yellow was for Bottas and not another car/marshal on the road just round the corner????

For next year the drivers should be given guidance on yellow flags that ensure, as best as possible, they don't endanger drivers or marshals on the track. They system should try not to disadvantage any driver as best as possible but any driver who fails to slow should be banned for a race for first offence, 3 races for second etc. This is a sport it should not endanger life where possible.

That's a rant and a half, sorry.....
