This all sounds pretty familiar to me mate !
Getting the new catalogue with all the toys in was so exciting !
My xmas list was massive I must have looked at the catalogue every night :emoticon-0102-bigsm.
Never really got much on it but a football and a kit normally did me :emoticon-0148-yes:

We used to make a nourishing soup out of the coal ash left over after a fire

Yeah I used to have to climb over next door’s wall made from barbed wire and write down what their fire looked like cos we never had our own fire.

That post I made about coal ash wasn’t actually true, we didn’t have a fire either, just a picture on the wall that my brother drew of some flames.

Psychologically it kept us all warm though.

I had a brother made out of two lumps of coal.

We had to set fire to him back in 1987 during that big storm

I'd forgot all about the big storm. Not sure how, coming from Kent. Just so many roads especially in the sticks impassable due to fallen trees. I was working in Sevenoaks at that time, probably one of the worst hit areas. Wasn't it reduced to one oak! And Michael Fish <laugh>
