Okay. Time to discuss Cole's tackle from yesterday. It was late and maybe the lad wasn't trying to hurt Hernández, but it was surely reckless and dangerous and in my opinion deserving of a straight red. SAF has said:

"It was a shocking tackle. Ashley Cole is very reckless at times. Being committed, you can sometimes go over the edge a bit.

"We don't know how Hernandez will be. His leg is very numb."

We have lost 2 players in the last 2 league games to reckless tackles and yet the media seems strangely quiet. Maybe they're quiet just because Utd state they are unhappy with the tackle but then move on or is it because the offender doesn't play in a red shirt? Imagine the outrage if Rooney had committed that tackle yesterday.

When Scholes tackled like this he got slaughtered by opposition fans, by the press and often got sent off and indeed rightly so. The tackle yesterday was bad regardless of the injury. Besides Utd don't know the extent. It could be nothing or bad.

I can't ever remember a time when Scholes ever lunged it with studs so high. <ok>

And because noone else ever leads with their elbows do they? <ok>

I don't think it will be that bad, Hernandez jumped up in the air, took some of the impact away from the challenge.

And another thing, if the referee's were so eagled eyed in viewing that the impact happened while the ball was out of play, why didn't they see that Smalling's head and Nani's right leg were offside?

Disgusting tackle and well worthy of a red card.

That's not the point David, surely it's more about the fact that Cole seemed to argue that it wasn't even a yellow - something he does every time he mistimes one. High quality player, low quality person. I thank God we don't have him infecting our squad. When Rooney et al do something stupid like Cole did yesterday he gets hammered from all quarters. That didn't happen in the press or during the commentary yesterday or today.

    Zabaleta probably can...

That and Cole was trying to block rather than tackle. He was sliding across Hernandez rather than into him, and it was only bad luck that he caught Hernandez' foot as it swung through after the shot. I'd say it was careless rather than dangerous, and the yellow card was fair.

Maybe the assistant at that end of the pitch has better eyesight? ;) That, and the offsides were very marginal decisions - given that the ball was played to the offside players from the other side of the pitch, the assistants would have to have pretty sharp reflexes to make such marginal judgements. All the more reason to have replays available to assist in those sorts of situations.

Agree it was reckless but from the reckless nature of the tackle there was an element of danger in that Cole even unintentionally could have seriously injured Hernandez due to his tackle. Also the attitude of Cole to the ref was also annoying. What a prat.

I would like to wake up one morning and read about how Ashley Cole was raped by a bus. It couldnt happen to a nicer guy.

As for the tackle, should of seen red. Wasnt malicious but was a very bad challenge.

The referee should not have booked him and let the FA charge him after the game. The yellow now means he'll get away with it, the ref would never have shown him red.

As a neutral I think the Ref got it wrong. If he thought it was a yellow card then he must have thought it a reckless tackle. Chucharito would have seen it coming and been put off his shot. Since the recklessness was apparent before the shot was taken (even though the contact was after) he should have given a penalty and sent Cole off for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity

Sure am glad it appears as if Chico will be back for Stoke (well, if he has the huevos to go out against those Neanderthals) but in all honestly I don't think that disgusting cad C$shley meant to break legs Sunday-he's just starting to show that Chelski need a new LB about a year from now, he isn't as sharp as he once was. I'm defo not trying to stick up for him at all (although I do support ALL England players to an extent regardless of club affiliation) The refs are onto him now, and it was a pleasure to watch Nani own him on so many levels Sunday. All's well that ends well, we had the result, Chico shall return soon, and at least we have Evra, not C$shley.

Doesn't matter what the injury is it was the tackle that was the problem. Try and keep up.
