Think Courtney was referee for the play off semi final at Sid James Park, when the Maggots invaded the pitch trying to get game called off cos they were losing. He took the players off the pitch and allegedly said to both sets of players and managers that "I don't care if we go on til midnight, but this game is going to finish today"

George Courtney for not allowing the scum pitch invasion to abandon the game.

Jack Taylor - was great at keeping up with play and quelling any player revolt. Still find it funny when Clive Thomas blew for halftime when a corner was still floating across.towards the goal.

One of the nicest men you could ever meet. A great ref who had one hell of a career. Didn’t take any crap on that play off night. He told me they had been warned it was going to happen by the police and under no circumstances would that game not finish.

You need to ask Everton fans about Collina.
I believe there was a European semi final when Mr Collina disallowed a Duncan Ferguson goal which might well have taken the toffees into the final.
His overall perfprmance suggested to some that he was a Liverpool supporter.
My memory is hazy, but it was something along these lines.
He did have a presence though.

George Tyson was always may favourite and then a couple of years ago I met him during a hospital stay when we were on the same ward. A cracking lad and some nice stories..He didn't particularly like my snoring though?:emoticon-0102-bigsm

Watched my friend's Sunday league match whilst down South for the weekend attending the Wycombe game. Referee in that game was the best I've ever seen, genuinely didn't get a thing wrong (not to say his dodgy linesman might not have - managers were linesmen... say no more). Led me to wonder how a literal amateur can be so accurate but a professionally paid referee can be so woeful.

There’s a fella who referees my sons matches whose tremendous. Sees all the little tricks players try. One of the kids who plays on my lads team got fouled on Saturday. Kept on going, went past a couple of others then put his shot in row a! Then had a go at the ref fir not giving the free kick!! Refs response. I said advantage and you seemed happy at the time! He misses nothing! Pity really isn’t it

Collina was by far and away the best I've seen.

Of the lesser mortals I always rated Alan Wiley.
