So where is he lying, he might still rather be dead in a ditch. I'd rather be a millionaire, I'm not, but I'm not lying.

It wasn't a lie, it was a promise and there is a huge difference. He promised to deliver Brexit and, in my opinion, did pretty much everything he could to do just that.
Unfortunately we have a HoC where too many are dead set on keeping us in the EU.
It's a lie if your are trying to deceive. For an example all those MPs who stood on a manifesto to deliver Brexit. They were lying.
Even though us leavers are supposed to be less intelligent we understand the difference.

Can't remember the speech saying no ifs, no buts unless the surrender act passes - just no ifs and no buts.

He was pretty clear and direct in his lie.

So if you promise to do something for someone, and before you can, it is made illegal then you have lied to them if you don't?

He was trying to deceive. He knew saying we are leaving on Oct 31st no ifs and no buts sounds much stronger than saying I will do everything I can to ensure we leave on Oct 31.

Conservative MP's yes that's a fair point but more people voted for parties that stood on a manifesto that would not support his deal. Those MP's voting against it are not lying.

    Trade:

    https://fullfact.org/europe/uk-eu-trade/
    • The EU, taken as a whole is the UK’s largest trading partner. In 2018, UK exports to the EU were £289 billion (46% of all UK exports). UK imports from the EU were £345 billion (54% of all UK imports).
    • The share of UK exports accounted for by the EU has generally fallen over time from 55% in 2006 to 43% in 2016, though this increased slightly to 44% in 2017 and 46% in 2018
From the EU themselves, “90% of global economic growth by 2015 is expected to be generated outside Europe”

    https://fullfact.org/europe/eu-less...ource=content_page&utm_medium=related_content

So staying in the EU would mean that our market will shrink in world terms.

It's like sitting in the slow lane in a Citroen 2CV as the Nissan GTRs blast past us with the driver telling us how safe we are in here...

Why would anyone want to stay in this prison cell the call the EU?

    Well also on 2 Sep

So if I knew it had a very good chance of becoming illegal then I'd think twice about making such a cast iron guarantee.

But as I say don't worry because he's not lying to you.

    From the Labour Manifesto 2017 - page 28 - "
    Freedom of movement will
end when we leave the European
    Union."

He would be trying to deceive if he had done nothing to try and deliver his promise but he did everything he could. His hands were tied by Parliament. He could not have done any more, could he?

And Labour MPs stood on a leave ticket.

It's very easy to have growth when your not a matured economy. So we certainly can have higher rates of growth outside the EU by first tanking our own economy.

From page 25/26 of Labour manifesto

We will drop the Conservatives’ Great Repeal Bill, replacing it with an EU Rights and Protections Bill that will ensure there is no detrimental change to workers’ rights, equality law, consumer rights or environmental protections as a result of Brexit. Throughout the Brexit process, we will make sure that all derived laws that are of benefit including workplace laws, consumer rights and environmental protections – are fully protected without qualifications, limitations or sunset clauses. We will work with trade unions, businesses and stakeholders to ensure there is a consensus on this vital issue. A Labour approach to Brexit will ensure there can be no rolling back of key rights and protections and that the UK does not lag behind Europe in workplace protections and environmental standards in future.

I could point to numerous sources including the governments own assessments but would you acknowledge or accept them?

Why do people think the EU workers rights are so much better than UK workers rights. I was transferred under TUPE regs from a UK company to a EU company, both large international companies, and the EU company just rode all over workers rights. So much so that over 25% left to try and find work back in a UK company.

So this proves, as I said, when he made the speech it was not law.

    You mean the guess?
You could include the recession if we voted to leave or the punishment budget.
In the absolute worst case, no deal, scenario they predict a 9% hit to our economy after 15 years. With May's deal they predicted under 4%.
I think it's guesswork because they can't factor in new trade deals but it's not exactly tanking is it?
