    Years in office
    Labour 28 Conservative 42
Total net borrowing Labour 488.1 Bn. Conservative 961.8 Bn.
Average for each year Labour 17.4 Bn. Conservative 22.9 Bn.
    Adjusted to 2014 prices
Labour 26.8 Bn. Conservative 33.5 Bn.

Number of years debt was repaid: Labour 7 Conservative 4
    Total repayments made (2014 prices)
Labour 108.8 Bn Tory 19.9 Bn.

Info gained from inland revenue figures. It is a quantitative fact that the Tories borrowed more, and paid back considerably less. Actually this government has borrowed more than all Labour governments put together.

I'm not actually based in Cologne but in a small town 40km. to the east of it (Engelskirchen).

But these people are stupid twats too, aren’t they? Let’s face it, they all are. You just excuse the behaviour of the least worst (to you), don’t you?

Please explain how one should interpret the section that starts: Number of years debt was repaid, and the total repayments.

You’d like to think this myth that the Tories are great guardians of the economy would finally be put to bed with Brexit but the same old sources will wheel out the same old baseless **** about Corbyn and magic money trees.

Don't ever let facts get in the way of a good political prejudice. Now let me see Strong and stable government . Tick. Low taxation. Tick. Law and Order. Tick. Record investment in the NHS. Tick. Investment in Britain. Tick. Greater local decision making. Tick. Sod Cummings and other spin doctors. I'll write the next manifesto for both parties. It's easy

It’s like that old Robin Williams film ‘Awakenings’, only the Robert de Niro part is being played by Yorkie, Sloughie, Odie, Wiz and Strolls.

As I said the Tories always clearing up after a Labour mess. If the Tories are that bad why have the country put them in power more than Labour......... it’s because unlike Labour they don’t f@@k up as much.

Spot on Goldie! This disgusting letter left sums up what they are all about.
People just don’t trust Labour with money.... or anything else. Did they ever find those weapons of mass distraction in Iraq? You know the war that lead to many hundreds of British deaths and injuries. Just like my partners school friend who died and left a wife a two kids. Remind us who was in power when they lied?

I can't speak for what was going on in 1945, Ellers, but recent Labour governments have spent money like children in a sweet shop. Can you imagine giving the purse strings to the likes of Diane Abbott?!

Corbyn is taking Labour down to a new low imo. And poll after poll doesn't lie about what the public think. A successful election campaign won't salvage it this time, particularly if the Tories, Lib Dems and SNP vote for the election, and Corbyn is dragged kicking and screaming to be judged by voters. Not a good look.

Yeah I liked those stats and how they can calculate into modern money? <doh>
Labour will lose lots of seats to the Brexit party. When they do their rallies up north they have countless Labour voters saying they will be voting for them.
I reckon it’s already been sorted this Tory/Brexit party non aggression thing. They just won’t admit it. It would be a big Brexit majority and time for a new deal with the EU.

The possible reasons why they are there so often are 1. They have most of the media behind them and 2. They spend far more on their election campaigns than all other parties combined. Unfortunately they now have so few members that the proportion of their money gained from private sponsorship has risen proportionally - thus placing them well and truly in the hands of their sponsors.

The problem with the Brexit Party is that if they go with Boris's deal, they are effectively voting for their own extinction. If Farage opposes the Tories and campaigns on no deal, he stands a chance of being elected to Parliament. It's an interesting one
