Well I didn't see goals 6-9 until now on MOTD. To be fair, they were not as brutal on us as Sky were on Soccer Saturday. The problem is that i have had to unfriend a few 'friends' on FB over Brexit, and with all the gloating I have had to remove quite a few Bompey fans. At this rate I may as well have a view only FaceBook.
Everyone seems to be looking for a simplistic answer. Ralph is not the problem. it goes much deeper and is more complex than that.
[QUOTE="thereisonlyoneno7, post: 13274466, member: 1006502" I have had to unfriend a few 'friends' on FB over Brexit, and with all the gloating I have had to remove quite a few Bompey fans.[/QUOTE] I have no friends and that is just how I like it.
You did better than us No7, we went after the fourth goal so had a bit of catching up to do tonight. As someone who hardly ever leaves early and look down my nose at people who do, I might have to adjust my attitude to the "beat the rush" gang after last night. To go after 39 minutes might be some kind of record.
I went down for the loo and then a wine at 4-0...heard the Vardy goal whilst having a pee and then as I came out of the loo my mate who was driving said "5-0, shall we go?". I saw the Vardy replay on the screens and downed my wine and said "lt's do it" Never done that, ever. Like you I hate the early leavers, but really, there was no point...It was raining, it was a Friday night, and I was over 35 miles from home. I actually think I would have stayed at a 3pm kickoff.
You're a better fan than me, there's no way I would have stayed for all 9 no matter what time of day it was. I wasn't comfortable leaving so early but once we got out of the stadium it was like a weight had been lifted from my shoulders. Today, I'm still in a state of disbelief.
I was shocked how many were there actually, as we were walking to the car. It was like a normal end of game. Jeff Stelling went off one on Sky on Soccer Saturday saying how real fans wouldn't have left, but all I can say is I don't make a habit of it and really it is my prerogative.
If the things hinted at in the PEH interview are the players disagree with Ralph, then basically they have downed tools and just gave up because they disagree with his methods, tactics, selections, substitutions etc. If so that is beyond disgusting and they should all **** off! But I don't see that, I think it is something else but not sure what. Reading between the lines, Ralph now has more to do without Rohl and has to be both good cop and bad cop and I reckon maybe a few bad eggs don't like it. I did not watch or listen to the match so have no idea how it all went down, who was to blame etc. Letting in an early goal and losing a player not long after obviously puts a strain on the players and when you've let a few in, it's only going to go one way if you are us, the players are just not good enough to claw back anything. Ralph could hardly bring Ings or another attacking player off as soon as Bertrand went, to try and shut up shop so he left it, hoping we could get back into the game but this quickly went to pot. Then he did bring Ings off I'm guessing to stop the rot and hopefully not concede anymore. Unfortunately the likes of Stephens are not good enough and we conceded 4 more goals. It really was a freak result that has only happened 1 other time in thousands of Premier League matches. Our squad is not great but they showed 2nd half of last season that they can play a bit and get some good results. Not sure what is wrong really but it's only 3 points dropped and we were probably never going to beat them anyway as Leicester are a good side in form.
Jeff has turned into a advert generating nob head. Notice how he doesn't mention Hartlepool as much now.
"Real fans"? Pompous ass. I admit there were some who were leaving after no2 but why should anybody sit through that just to get approval from Jeff Stelling?
I'm afraid I've not read through the 44 pages of messages but a few thoughts on last night: Our line up is so predictably boring right now. The back 3 fills no one with confidence. The wing backs don't give us enough strength either defensively or offensively. The midfield 3 of PEH, OR and JWP are not strong enough to dominate a PL match Our attack shows promise at times, but when it is a front 2 they are left totally isolated and struggle to create chances. Where do we go from here? For me the next two games (City and City again) are almost a write off.... show some bottle, show some pride, don't get battered. The Everton game is everything. Change the GK - Gunn is so low on confidence he needs a break. Bring McCarthy in, let Gunn know he's still long term first choice but he needs to work on a few things for now. Defence - make a decision, 4 or 5. Stick with it for the season. Midfield: Get some creativity in the team. Shake things up a bit, give Armstrong a go, give Slattery a go, but it doesn't have to be the same three every time. Forwards: Get a bit of unpredictability back in the team. What would defenders least like to play against? Use Boufal, Djenepo (when fit), Adams, Sims (when fit) For the Everton game I'd go with: McCarthy Cedric/Valery Bednarek Yoshida Bertrand Hojbjerg Armstrong Romeu Djenepo Ings Redmond Oh, and while they're at it, give something to the fans to get them on side. Free drink pre-match, free scarf, free shirts, doesn't matter, but something to acknowledge we sat soaking wet and freezing cold to watch the Premier League's worst ever home defeat last night.
By all accounts Bertrand is suspended for the Everton game, give Vokins a go or even McQueen if he has a pulse. I agree about Gunn, McCarthy was hard done by to get dropped. He never let in 9 in 1 game! I think 4 at the back is best, we are **** defensively, so what's the point of the extra player in a 5, may as well go to 4 and chuck in Armstrong behind the front 2. Need to drop JWP and PEH as they have been pants so dropping them will show them they need to up their game, PEH is the captain FFS, change that straight away to someone who cares, Yoshida or Romeu maybe or even Redmond or Ings. Vestergard is this seasons Hoedt, keeps getting picked even though he's pants, he should not make an appearance again, stick with Yosh and Bedders, get an understanding going, Stephens as back up and any youngsters playing before Vestergard. On the subject of youngsters, they wouldn't roll over like yesterday, start a few every now and then, it worked when Ralph first came, why not now, they are playing for a new big money contract whereas the players being picked week in week out have already got the big contract and really don't need to play well, where is the motivation?
Vestergaard has been our best defender this year by far. Not that that's saying much. Bednerak is this year's Hoedt. Maybe worse. He's constantly out of position. Backs off players when they are coming at him, then chases passes and players he doesn't need to and won't get anywhere near. He just doesn't have any confidence right now. Three at the back has generally worked better for us. The lineup against Leicester was the first time all season we had gone with the steadiest team. Obviously it didn't go so well. That is what is so concerning. You can argue that wasn't our best potential lineup, but it was the lineup least likely to get beaten 9-0. We played a consrvative lineup and tactic and still that happened. So I don't know what the answer is, but if there's a CB that needs to be benched, it's Bednerak.
That is complete nonsense. The main reason Bednarek was out of position was because he was covering for Valery, Yoshida, Vestergaard, and occasionally Bertrand as well. The only one of our back 5 to emerge with any credit whatsoever.
So you never watched or listened to the game but PEH should be dropped and stripped of the captaincy because he's pants and doesn't care? I stayed to the end (in a good atmosphere 2nd half) and I saw a different man to the one you didn't!! Not saying he's playing well but at least see the the game (Or some of it ) before having a pop.
The people in front of us went just as the third goal went in I missed it because they were stood in front of me..........Before half time I think between 6-800 had gone and at halftime it was a couple of thousand at least gone.
I have to say some of the passing just did not make sense we are so slow and predictable. We played into Leicester hands all the time. Have you ever been to a home game before where the opposing team has 73% possession? Nearly every pass we made and I really do not exaggerate was predicted by the Leicester lads. The number of goals that were scored against started from missed passes!!!!
