Guys I'm not trying to start anything I'm easy. Take my posts (mainly the one about Archers Road) as tongue-in-cheek a little and let's move on. It's all in good spirit here I know. I'm a little bit gut instinct and stubborn, if I was the owner after the Spurs game I'd have sacked him. Terms of Hojbjerg and Romeu - problem I have is there a little too much chalk and cheese. One plays almost solely with his gut and the other almost solely with his brain. Neither have much ability on the ball. A few years ago we had a great team, but there seem to be less good players about and less good ones going on the cheap. The quality of football in general seems to have declined a little in my eyes. Maybe I'm just fuming that the Saints are under par compared to under Poch and Koeman! Who knows. I do know that failing to beat Spurs when they had 10 men was difficult and a missed opportunity.
We will see with Redmond. He's had all the freedom in the world for the last few seasons. Making our player of the season hasn't been that big of an ask TBH. This will be a big test for him because so far, Boufal and Djenepo have looked a real threat to oppo defences and Redders not so much.... it's a different environment for him.
You know what, I agree with a lot of this but I'm actually of the opinion that the footaball has got far better. There are absolutely no weak teams in the EPL now and every team has some game changing players. Winning in the EPL is a big ask for anyone and I think that's the big change in the 5 years we have slid back. Cheap owners looking for cheap buys and piss poor managers going against much better opposition have meant that we have lost touch to some degree and let a multitude of teams get ahead of us. I honestly can't pick many winners these days, including/especially our own games.
I’m not sure why people are thinking Redders will be out or dropped. Surely by now people realise that the modern game isn’t about 11 players but a squad of players. In a squad that doesn’t have much quality, the better players will play regularly and the 11 will likely change depending on opponent, fitness levels etc. It’s one area that we’re ok in at the moment. Flair players of two from Redmond, Boufal and Djenepo and a striker from Ings, Adams and Long isn’t a bad position to be in. There will be games he starts and games he comes on in for the right reasons, unlike further back, where we seem to be still sorting that out.
I'm not convinced. Sheffield United play some awful, brutal stuff. It's semi Rugby semi hoof ball and above us in the table. A lot of teams in the lower half play dross and even teams like Spurs and Man United are playing dross currently. The only good teams in the league are Man City and Liverpool. Plus Leicester and Chelsea at least try to play nice football with good players. I'm not convinced by anyone else. Arsenal have the benefit of Aubameyang who is a brilliant player, any team in the league would be better with him in the side. I'm not picking on the Prem, through out Europe there's plenty of teams in the top leagues playing some real rubbish right now.
As mentioned he completely lost the plot here and it hasn’t been better since. At one point Hassenhuttl went from wanting his team to have fun to becoming no fun and full of excuses and weird interviews. That’s just my opinion and I would have sacked him after this game as I mentioned at the time. He became about fear of failure and so did the side. Unfortunately many have frozen physically and mentally as a result. I think I could get 10th with this squad and I’m deadly serious. Football teams are managed by ex footballers that bar mourinho , klopp, Brendan Rodgers, dyche and guardiola of premier league managers don’t actually know what they are doing. May have forgotten someone but don’t think I have. And the worst thing is when a manager loses their confidence and everything about him becomes counterproductive as a manager. I realise it is a fine balance when the players earn so much now but really his performance tactically against Spurs was ridiculously inept and hasn’t gotten better since.
Just as a matter of interest, are you always this critical, or do you have good days? Cheer up chap, it's not as bad as it seems.
Saint John, that’s a couple of times now you’ve talked about what you could do managing the team. Just as a matter of interest, do you have a coaching or playing background?
Me cheer up? I talk football in a neutral tone. That’s it. I’m always to the point. Not my problem people are offended by me being upfront. Forums are useless. People never debate sport they just get personal. Cheer up son. 0-9 and you are still furious at constructive criticism. You must love mediocrity or in this case a useless **** show. I’m always level headed and calm. People hate confident posters on the internet. I have this problem wherever I post. Fact is I would have sacked him after spurs so nothing you say will be getting one up on me anyway.
Not too relevant neither of us are getting the job I consider myself to have more credentials than all the recent managers we have had bar koeman
You are difficult here aren’t you. Laughable stuff. He told me to cheer up as a wum I wound him up back.. If one is upset at criticism after a 0-9 Loss then football Forum is a lost cause for them. Instead of talking football all I see is drivel haha
It was genuine question - are you prepared to answer it? You have said you are a confident poster and want to talk football. I’ve asked you a serious and genuine question, so why not answer it. It’s about football.
