Surely they could have sold this out twice over...well it is raining I suppose and it's on the telly.
A couple of the reasons we have trotted out for less than full stadium down the years. Cheapest on the day adult ticket of £42 to sit behind the goal doesn’t help either.
our televised game v the owls I could hear loads of noise generated from a handful of city yoof? as compared to relative silence from the massive. on owlstalk they even criticised themselves for lack of atmosphere. halfway through the second half theres still not much singing lol make that right at the end not halfway
I worked with one of the biggest Wednesday fans you will ever meet for quite a time and saw him a while back and he was decrying the lack of atmosphere nowadays on their Kop End. Funnily enough a Blunts fan who goes in my pub says the same about Bramall Lane though it sounded alright on ?TV the other night.
its a shame whats been slowly happening in England over the years yet over on the continent they seem to be getting more and more fervent with some fantastic scenes at grounds (not that ive ever been) you'd have thought with the increasing numbers of foreigners over here we'd be following suit....?
A group of Polish lads started going in East Stand in the section nearest South Stand a few years back. Really vocal. Mumbling from those around, people almost embarrassed by these shows of enthusiasm. One game against Man City after complaints the stewards were hassling them and telling them to sit down and shut up. In the end they just drifted away. A shame as we could have done with even more with their approach.
Why? Because they're in another country they'd start supporting a different team? When I had my pub in Leicester, we used to get a fair few Polish lads coming in, most of them Lech Poznan fans. They didn't suddenly start supporting Leicester. Our fans just need to be a bit more noisy, that's all.
I'm not. We just don't care as much as fans of continental teams. We're generally apathetic about everything.
Some fans of some clubs do care and show it. Funny how things change. Used to go to Holland, Belgium and Germany in the early 1970s with work a bit. Football fans over there watching clips of our games were envious of the scenes at Anfield, Old Trafford etc...Now their grounds make ours look like morgues.
no because their children and their childrens children will maybe start to support the team where they are born (I wasn't actually being serious in that previous post..)
