I can imagine it gets repetitive but I'm there for 6 days so, burgers, hot dogs, NY Italian, pizza slices, cheesecake and wings/BBQ meat are all in my list. Oh and a pastrami sandwich.
Just like eating in England gets repetitive? You don't have to eat the same thing all the time ffs America is massive will have loads of different things to eat. Just because brb travelled across the country eating at Maccies in 30 different states doesn't mean all American food is ****
You get the same attitude with beer but that's from people who drink Miller and Bud. American beer is superb if you look and try something different.
I'll respond to yer mate... I don't get all this travelling to other places, such as New York, to eat Italian, when you have many other options to choose from, for which generally NY is a short not long term stay. If you enjoy it, that's great but personally if i want pasta, I wouldn't be travelling to the Big Apple for it. It's a bit like going to Benidrom to taste a good ole British fried breakfast, when England is just across the water. The problem you find with the authentic badge it generally is far from it. It's a bit like going to Italy for your morning fry up, and walking in and finding you've got no butter for your toast. You complain to the waiter but he says, yeah but the locals don't like it, and as they are our customers, it's too costly to serve it for it to go to waste. Then finding there is no tea, you complain to the waiter again, no we don't have tea, the locals prefer coffee. So much for being authentic eh mate? Basically I'm saying if you enjoy it, good on you and go and do it. It's just when people paint something as authentic when generally that's just a marketing badge, to charge higher prices. Poor example but it's a bit like going to Turkey and buying a Lacoste T Shirt...fake but sold in an authentic designer shop for a quid each Anyway in other news...I bought a bottle of Macallan 1926 today
I am not suggesting it is. Loved that programme with that guy travelling round doing eating challenges. Not once did I see something I wouldn’t eat.
I used to love going to Little Italy during my visits to NYC. Having eaten in Little Italy many times and travelled to various parts of Italy on numerous occasions I think there are some very authentic family owned restaurants in Little Italy. There are also many that are very touristy. Sadly much of the area has been swallowed up by Chinatown.
Dead in the middle of Little Italy little did we know That we riddled some middlemen who didn't do diddly
I get your point and wouldn't normally go to let's say an Indian in Spain but I feel that NY Italian is famous enough that it interests me.
Don't blame yer mate. sounds interesting and worth checking it out. I was never knocking the establishment itself, I just have hang ups about the 'authentic' labelling. Mainly because some shhite chain restaurants use it in this country, and generally as an excuse to charge more to sucker punters. I'm not including you in that category btw.
Yeah, it's on food channel. Free view. Similar to Man V Food but not eating grotesque amounts of food.
the local o’neils does a wing challenge. Reckon I could take it down no bother. 50 hot ones. They’re not even that hot. having an American night tonight. Got beef ribs and pork ribs. Think I may go buy a load of wings on my way back from the pub too.
It's on right now. America doesn't have a cuisine of its own, so it's ridiculous to slate its take on Italian food. It has amalgams of all sorts of different immigrant nationalities. Amazing food. Fat as ****, no doubt, but it all looks absolutely superb. My biggest regret about when I went to NY is I was a ****ing vegetarian at the time ffs.
