What got on my nerves the most was us trying to hit these perfect passes all game instead of just keeping the ball and building the play, we really were bad.
Exactly this!! Yes the ref was poor, yes they defended well and all that malarkey.....but we seemed to want to hit a 40 yard straithtish pass onto the foot of mane....we just ran out of ideas due and forgot what we are good at - it didn’t help that our midfield was truly one dimensional until Keita came on. Even Lallana had an impact prior to his goal. I can see big money being spent here very soon tbh.
I think the referee was under pressure because of the tag they put on him "Liverpool is not going to lose any match that he is the referee ".
Trent was the most guilty of this. Was really brainless from him. as others have said, we started to control the space and dictate tempo once Keita was on. Yes, United sat back but we looked far more comfortable on the ball.
Fabinho holding. Keita playing the Gini role. Gini moves to the right as the attacking midfielder (or we use Ox in that role). it’s the ideal midfield configuration IMO
It was more to do with how much Ashley Young protested. He let at least 2 go until Young shouted at him ****ing bottle job.
Solskjaer literally said Atkinson was man of the match. Managers of other teams get punished for comments like that. He also made sexist comments saying it's "a man's game" which the media are happy to let slide.
Think people are getting a tad carried away re keitas performance. He came on after 82 mins by which time ManU had dropped off , probably as physically they could not keep up the press , and had time on the ball without being under anywhere near the pressure of earlier in the match. Now i'm fully in agreement with hoping he can stay fit and we can see the player that performed in Germany which will obviously give us a different threat but we are some way from that yet. Same to some extent applies to AOC but hopefully he has fully recovered from the injury and his form will pick up as he gets more game time and considering Hendersons recent form the increased game time may well start against Genk .
I think Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain should start more games, before his injury he used to start more games.
I've had to give myself a fair bit of time to calm down, the game yesterday went the exact opposite of how I wished it went. Before the game all I wanted was for the mentality to be right, for us to show some confidence that we where the better team. The result was secondary to the performance. We where nervous from the start, the referees descions really got to us. I'm struggling to believe that we had such a hard time against a team whos main tactic was run around alot. We got drawn into a battle that we didnt need to, all we had to do was keep the ball, stay calm and the rest would have come. I'm not sure if its klopp, the players or just a mental thing for the whole club, but weve got to change are attitude when we play some of these sides.
