Oh, and sensational result. Made it difficult for ourselves (as per usual!) at the start of the second half but still cruised home in the end. 4 chances, 4 goals. Say. No. More.
No sign of our goals. It's only one Championship game for heavens sake! Been on Birmingham OS and they said that clinical finishing was the difference. Called us classy, but also said that score doesn't match game. Statistics bear them out, but my impression was that we controlled the game apart from a period early in 2nd half. Admittedly, SKD did some good work so perhaps they were in it more than I thought. Rearrange into well known phrase: cares who.
we didnt have as many chances on goal but to say the scoreline doesnt reflect the game isnt right imo. the amount of time we had on the ball compared to them was ridiculous, we controlled the pace of the game.
agree. Also, every team will have their time during a game and Brum did have a spell for 10-15 minutes that they put us under a bit of pressure. Unlike the Forest game though, I didn't at any point during the game feel the result would be anything other than a comfortable Saints win - we were good.
If they'd been more clinical, it could have been a different game. They can't complain though, It's finishing opportunities that wins games. Last season it seemed like we created a lot more than we actually finished, but this seaason we are converting more good chances. Out of interest, the Connolly goal that got disallowed, can anyone who was sat closer to it confirm whether it was offside or not? Adkins didn't seem to think it was.
I was reading the various media reviews and reports of the match last night, and without exception, there was not a single mention of Connolly's disallowed goal. If, like me, you were unable to attend, watch from afar, or listen on the radio, you would be forgiven for thinking it didn't happen. The fact that it was a tad disputed, would merit it a mention, especially as Adkins said that, in his opinion, the referee got it completely wrong. I suppose we suffered for being the only Championship match on a Sunday full of headline Premiership fixtures.
I was pretty much in line with it and Connolly was at least half a yard onside. According to the twitter remarks by Saints media staff, the footage they have confirms this. Shame as Connolly really deserved a goal.
