As stated before Germany is classed as a location, therfore the correct word would be is, however the same does not apply to a football club lol are you really that stupid?
Plus the fact that when stating a FACT about a particular location is different, please sort it out, re read what you said and correct it, thank you
A football club in grammer is deemed a collective, please address these issues you have about trying to look smart
How can you define a football club as singular? There are 25 squad players, a manager, a physio a director, an owner and many more, at what point would it become singular. IS alan Sugar rich....yes Is tottenham football club good........wrong, it is are
"Is Tottenham the new power in North London?" If you were talking about a particular singular geographical location, then this could be deemed as correct, however you were not therefore the word "are" should be used instead of "is"..........fact!
A team. Namely, one team. Singular. That rather gives it away A group of individuals is singular, not plural. Thus, the correct English is:- "That group of individuals is odd" and not:- "That group of individuals are odd." I trust that clears things up
Use that in the opening sentance and if you still believe you are correct, then your school is obviouslybased in a migrantly populated London
Regarding a London power-shift, I think the tide had been turning for a while, with the steady decline of Arsenal and the steady rise of Spurs. Perhaps this is the season where our respective paths cross, and Arsenal find themselves in the wilderness for several seasons. I disagree with the person who confident stated that the Arsenal squad has greater quality than ours. Sorry, but that's absolute rubbish!
I'm with you, : "both" is the right answer in British English. It depends on whether we are focusing on the team as an entity or the individuals within the team. The plural after collective nouns is less common in AmE.
Is Tottenham the new power in North London? Is tottenham football club the new power in north London? Are tottenham football club the new power in north London? YOU DECIDE
The current team it seems is only on occasion, able to fight for the entire 90 minutes plus around 4 minutes of injury time that is the duration of a game these days. On this weekend's form, we are behind not only Tottenham but a lot of other teams, including the only one we've beaten this season.
Ok guys. How about now that Spurs has the best team in North London according to an Arsenal great, how will Arsenal fans deal with the likes of Adebayor, Defoe & co coming to the emirates and scoring plenty of goals against a team who's manager prefers to look after the shareholders rather than spending money on quality proven players. As much as i admire the Wenger YTS scheme at Arsenal it seems to be backfiring and i wouldn't like to see the likes of Hull city and Peterborough visiting Arsenal for league fixtures next season.
