I guess that PP now knows what he is dealing with. He had them for one training session before Wycombe. Hopefully we'll see more of his ideas on Tuesday. I think he'll get something out of them.
Agreed, other than I would have Gooch ahead of Maguire if using wingers. I don’t want to be too critical of the quality of player, as it is third tier and we are at our lowest ever level, but Conor M and Wyke are poor quality footballers and we have seen a few at Sunderland over the years. I was surprised by the amount of long balls yesterday, particularly from Lynch.
I really like Gooch. It frustrated me that Coleman didn't use him enough in the Championship season However, he is such a frustrating player - the number of times he gets into a good crossing position then checks back inside to take his man on again.
any team can beat any team in this division some strange results Accy beating Ipswich is one Rotherham losing again at home, It is only October so any 3 teams could go up.
I think he could play in a 3, but would need the other 2 to do his running for him. His set pieces are usually decent and he is calm on the ball. I said at the time it was an odd signing as CM was supposedly our strongest area. I'd like to see Mumba get some game time and recall Robson from loan - get some energy and some legs in midfield
Personally I think it’s gonna be another disappointment. A draw at best is my guess!! Sorry but I think we are not in a good place!! it’s a 1-1 from me. Bart
----------------- McLaughlin -------------- McLaughlin -- Lynch -- Willis -- Hume ----------------- McGeough -------------- Watmore --- Power -- 09 --- Maguire ------------------ McNulty ----------------- That's the team and formation I'd like to see us playing. We've got enough quality in midfield and out wide to support McNulty, so I didn't think we necessarily need to be playing with two up front.
This is pretty much it for me but I think Burge will keep his place, and I'd play Gooch instead of watmore because I don't think he can play 2 games so close together. We need to speed the play up through midfield and stop launching it long.
