We cant persist with a midfield of just energy, we need to add quality to the mix. Fabinho keeps his place as he is important, Gini too on his day is the next best. Keita or Chamberlain really need to be the third.
yep! No one can doubt his technical ability but he needs to contribute more. And he did today. anyways, fundamental issue is klopp has this bad habit in big games. Gives far too much respect to the opposition. The pundits will all say United were brilliant but the truth is, there was little quality and it was mostly spirit. They didn’t create anything and even their goal was from a foul.
Hopefully, we will see it now. As today proved, nullify our full backs and we have little creativity from deep. So then it’s put more pressure on the front 3. Pressure is even greater when you take one of them out! We need the midfield to move up a gear now. It’s great that they work hard and are disciplined. But it’s not enough. Need to combine ability and work rate.
Need to get the stats for Gini as wel but this says it all: Naby had 3 passes into the box with 6 attacking forward passes. Hendo had 1 and 1
Naby Keita, despite coming on in the 82nd minute, completed more final third passes (8) than: • Gini Wijnaldum - 7 • Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - 6
Needs to stay fit and show consistency. If he can do that, we will have a worldie. He helped control the tempo at the end.
A huge huge huuuuuuge priority for us to sign a player for the front 3. Losing any one of the stars has a big impact.
I just hope Mo is back quickly. Without him, our shape changes massively....and Origi, as much as I appreciate what he’s done for us, is simply not good enough. His touch when he was fouled was shocking. He’s just not good enough.
That’s a bollocks stat given that he came on after United had dropped off into a 5-4-1 and stupidly decided to concede ground and allow you to come on to them.
I get your point but Utd were defending deep from 25 minutes out. Keita came on on 82mins. If you can’t see that he drives the team forward, you’re blind.
Klopp destroys VAR: "They scored a goal which shows all the problems with VAR. Mr Atkinson let the game run I'm sure because there is VAR. For me it was a clear foul. It's a general problem. VAR looks and says 'you decided like this'. But it was a foul. Then we scored a goal that was disallowed. Pretty much everything went against us but we still didn't lose so that is OK."
