Despite all the dooming & glooming, we're doing a lot better than people would have you think after 12 games.

League position: On 23 points & the leaders are on 25. EXACTLY the same as last season. <doh>

Goals scored: Sadly only 16, whereas it was 22 last season. 6 short.

Reason: That would be Bamford's fault, right? Well, ..... partly. He's scored 4 in 12. Last season Roofe & Roberts played 6 each as CF, Roofe scoring 4, & Roberts 3. But that only accounts for half of the difference. So it's not all his fault, is it? <doh>

Goals conceded: Only 7. Last season, we thought the 9 at this stage was excellent. It was. This is so much better.

Reason: That would be because we got rid of Calamity Cooper & saved Pontus from trying to cover for him all of the time, isn't it? On, wait a minute! <doh>

So the report card isn't all that bad, is it? Sure, we'd like to score more goals. So would WBA, who have scored 9 less, yet they're top of the league! So why all the moaning, especially in a highly competitive league where anyone can beat anyone? Answers on a postcard .....

Think some of the moaning WJ comes from fans overhyping the team. I’ve seen us described as miles the best in the league with best coach maybe in the world. And how many times have you seen the we’re due to hammer a team comments. Some of that can be unrealistic in my opinion and lead to negative vibes when performances don’t live up to expectations. Just my tuppence worth

We've played alot of the top 10 teams too. Looking at November and December fixtures we are looking good.

Thing is, as a fan, you always look at where we could improve. I don't think its moaning alot of the time. Just a hope that we can do better.

Get some lads back fit and get one or both of the strikers firing and hopefully we can get on a run like we did last Christmas. Did we do 7 wins in a row or something?

I understand what you're saying WJ and agree to why is there so much doom and gloom, even after a win but West Brom have scored 6 more than us mate. Infact we're the joint lowest scorers in the top 11 and if Forest score today, we'll be the lowest.

if forest win we will be third too not second.lack of goals is abysmal and needs sorting out.the number of times we shot straight at the keeper yesterday is shocking.even kalvin shot at him and luckily the keeper fooked it up.another lucky goal and lets face it we don,t get much of that.

We’re in a good position in the league but naturally we’re going to dissect performances and we haven’t looked as sharp with Pablo missing and dare I say it foreshaw. Missing both gives us less control. It’s disconcerting how we’re fading in the second half of games, when we’re meant to be the fit ones... maybe it’s nerves when we’re one up, subs disrupting flow and fatigue all mixed together. But It stems from not finishing teams off.

That said, Brum have played good football recently under pep, so we’ve played a few sides with enough about them to exploit the gaps we’re leaving.

On the whole though, it’s hardly panic stations being in top2/3... just we’re not clicking as we’d like.

    Will just add one point:

Roofe scored some goals last season but he's now in one of the weakest leagues in Europe, Belgium which is smaller than Yorkshire. Roofe has scored his first goal of the season today for Antwerp.

Not enough goals and 5 games we should have won. Demand more this season. I want the title, goals and a points buffer at the top.

Our second season under MB will be tougher as teams will have worked on tactics to contain or beat us. We were told the last season squad wasn't good enough to get promotion.

Last season I felt more confident at this stage as the performances and goal threats felt better. This year the last 15 mins of our games are a nightmare to get through.

which would have meant him being injured for ages so had to go find out. We knew he was wearing a boot when he signed and so it took 6 weeks from signing before he got a game. He's actually played 3 games and got 2 bookings, 1 assist and 1 goal so Im going to give him a break. Think you meant hes only started twice mate :emoticon-0148-yes:

I'm sat here 12 games in to the season and my 2 major concerns are the fact we only have Cooper and White as our only established CB and we need another desperately and there's no denying that.

The 2nd is Bamford he not scored for 7 games. Imo that's dismal for a striker. Especially if he starts every game.

The fact we get found out by lesser coaches is a massive problem.

Things are working for us but for how long?
