She wants to stop Brexit, Jezza will get the extension, call a referendum, then an election.

I think Jo Swinson is all about Jo Swinson. I don’t see a principled individual, I see an opportunist in similar mould to Boris

That's why Chuka is using the Libdems as somewhere to keep his coat until he spots an opportunity for self promotion elsewhere because he sees like minded people in positions of authority - Parliament is too full of people who are in politics for themselves and I hate it.
I watched Graham Norton last night and he had Arnie Schwartzenegger on. Arnie was talking about how when he was Governor of California, he considered his role as that of a public servant whose job it was to try and make people's lives better, and how he hated "politics" because politicians didn't care about people, only in party politics and scoring a victory.
He asked the quite obvious question of how can climate change be a political issue to be argued over?
Another couple of examples were education and health care. He argued that it was a government's job to deliver the best health care and education it could for the population, whereas politicians would vote against the best possible solution offered if it was offered by the opposition.

    We need more Arnies

There’s certainly far too many career politicians in Westminster nowadays. A generation ago, the Labour benches were full of MPs from a Trade Union background, and the Tory benches were populated by former captains of industry (and captains of the forces). Very few of the current crop of MPs have ever had a proper job.

Having said all that, I actually think this Parliament is doing a good job of holding the executive to account

Politics is seen as a way to becoming wealthy - raises massive warning flags just for that as it creates conflicts of interest and therefore effective dishonesty by elected representatives who do take on directorships etc based on what they can offer whilst they are politicians

no you can't! never went to a private school, never went to Eton, never went to Oxford, never got a job in banking. As you went to the Poly of Wales you can aim better than McDonalds, or at least manager

Well, I did go to a private school - it did though go comprehensive in my 3rd year. I have eaten an Eton Mess plenty of times and driven through Oxford. I did work in IT in Barclays Bank, so does that count :)

I am sure that MPs don’t get irony.
I was listening to a Tory MP saying that there was no need for the Letwyn amendment, to prevent a No Deal, as there were more Remain MPs in the house, than Leave and between them they could hold the government to account.
It seemed to have escaped his attention that the Remain supporting Tory MPs had, by and large, voted against the Letwyn amendment and are expected to vote for the deal, when it is put before the house.
That would be really holding the government to account.

Excuse my language, but Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson really is a devious ****. I really hope there is a nice slimy dungeon somewhere where he can see out the rest of his natural life once order is restored to this once proud nation.

He’s only gone and sent an unsigned ****ing letter to Donald Tusk, hasn’t he?
