I am all for equality. I am against privilege because of what school or Family you came from. I don't like the Royal Family. I believe in the health service. I believe in the rich Corporations paying taxes that are based on how much profit they made. I believe that tax loopholes should be tightened. If all that makes me a lefty, I am happy to be called that.

 

I believe that pension tax relief should be restricted to standard rate of tax.
I believe that payments to pensioners (other than the state standard pension) should be means tested
I believe that all pensioners should have state provided advisors to ensure they receive all benefits to which they are entitled
I believe that parents who have children just to avoid going to work should be required to carry out socially responsible work to earn off their state support

 

Equality of opportunity yes, that is worth striving for. I think there is a severe problem of tax avoidance which is making that difficult though. It's a whole culture now, that you're a mug if you pay taxes you can get out of.I receive quite a decent Royal Mail pension, and expect that offshore investments play a considerable part of it, so I am open to charges of hypocrisy from anyone who likes that sort of thing, but I would like to know how much our public services are affected by this culture. The Japanese, who are flavour of the month, have a culture that it is shameful not to pay your taxes. Unless things have changed.

 

Nasty Doreen Lawrence has disgraced herself today with her comments about the London Fire Brigade at Grenfell.

She should be stripped of her peerage.

My dislike of the Royal Family doesn't extend to The Queen and probably Princess Anne, I admire their work ethic. For free loaders like the alleged Child molester Andrew, Edward, etc what do they bring to the table?

I remember one of the firefighters telling his story in floods of tears that he was racing up Grenfell (helping people) while the residents were racing down …. he got to one flat near the top and broke the door down, he pleaded with the occupants to go with him down the stairs but they refused, he made it out by the skin of his teeth but the family did not. He was inconsolable that he failed to convince the family to leave!

There were some heroes at Grenfell that night and most of them wore LFB uniforms.

 

Not too long ago Liam Neeson was pilloried for admitting to having racist feelings for a week after a friend was raped by a black man. The only one to defend him was John Barnes, for his open-ness and self awareness. Having her son brutally murdered by a racist gang has had that effect on Doreen Lawrence too, but she can't see it.

 

I am afraid to say that Baroness Lawrence is a very bitter and very nasty woman. Accusing anyone of racism is her automatic reflex action. Quite incredible that Miliband made her a legislator, she’s unfit.

 

I just feel sorry for anybody who loses their Son.
