It's not a question of agreeing with it. It's a question of implementation. The leaflet said that the referendum result would be implemented. You might be anti democratic but most people in this country believe in democracy and think that votes should be implemented.

 

We only believe in the version of democracy that suits us at the time. The Leavers "won" by around 4% but there was only a 70% (or thereabouts) turn out for the referendum vote. Until we have compulsory voting you won't get a truly democratic result.

Even if there was a second referendum I doubt you'd get much closer to a 100% turn out, not everyone can be arsed.

Government leaflets or party manifestos are not law. Promises are easily broken, just ask the Liberal Democrats.

Compulsory voting.... That's not democracy either dude....... If I see no point in voting on policies that are lies.... I don't vote for it..... Trouble is in this country people vote on lies which keeps the illusion going that a democracy rules on this tiny island.

 

Until everybody votes you can't have a true democracy. If you don't like the policies of any of the available candidates you can spoil your paper as a protest.

Better yet they should have a box to tick for "none of the above", these could be counted and may make politicians take voters seriously instead of for granted.

Despite being a staunch Remainer I still think our politicians have made a complete hash of Brexit. They should all be ashamed of themselves but I doubt any of them are.
