The thing that I'm struggling with is next year without the Parachute payments we have a major financial issue and a circa 15 million pound difference between income and expenditure. That's makes us an even worse prospect for investment as we can't cover our costs, so why risk the opportunity with the takeover and the choice of manager?
Its like for like mate. The failing has been HOW we’ve played and HOW we’ve set up. How is going for a gaffer who plays arguably more towards the failing way than Ross going to be anything but a disaster? We haven’t the players for hoofball. A different name on the door won’t change that. Lads will have spent fortunes to get down to Bucks on Saturday, ****ing fortunes.
Can still back him on Betfair if anyone is sure about this story, I got odds of 1.3 SMB is down, don't know if it's in response to this news, signed up here so I can still talk bollocks.
Buxton's record was probably slightly better than Parkinson's pre signing for us. Doesn't mean Parkinson will be a failure mind
Mate he got much lesser teams than ours promoted, surely you have got to see that? Jack Ross's team was an emulation of himself, dour and dull. Everyone has got a right to thier opinion, the best man I thought for the job was Nigel Pearson this fella has been appointed so lets get behind him
I’m finding it difficult seeing him be successful at the moment. Him coupled with the owners isn’t exactly reassuring.
Did he though? There’s a massive lack of quality in our squad. If he wants to play off a target man, then we are ****ed as we simply don’t have one of any calibre or reliability. We needed a completely fresh approach to games. It’s not against Parkinson personally, it’s against how his sides play. They play like we have been.
It's always hard to say, a player or manager sometimes fits one club more than they do another. He's done well quite a few times at this level before so may be able to do the same here. Time will tell I guess
Wonder if we would have approached Phil Parkinson if he had still been at Bolton and we would have had to pay compensation for him?? Very much doubt it. I’ll back him but Donald wants to pray he’s got this right
So if the players are that bad who did you expect to come and manage them? A lot of people are jumping up and down but surely weve got to be realistic about things, as is this is a realistic appointment
The players we have would be a lot more suited to playing football. We do have a few players who are comfortable on the ball and some good runners. We do not have players who win second balls and who are going to win physical battles.
Yeah you told us it was a wind up. Should have stuck to your guns fella and you would have got some credit. Anyway, none of us know how he's going to do so let's not cry into our beer and let's assume the best until there's a reason not to. I think a lot of us wanted a higher profile appointment to reassure us that everything's cushty at the club but maybe those guys weren't right. It sounds like it's been carefully considered and we haven't just seen who's cheapest and said "he'll do".
Im sure he will play to the strengths of the players we have, I expect he will be more flexible than what you have been reading about him. Look at Allardyce when he came here, everybody took to him as we survived with decent football, maybe Parkinson might do the same (promoted I mean)
True but if he can do what Ross never did and get them pressing and fighting physically then the extra quality we have will be a bonus on top of that. If he makes the team all about that and sacks off proper football entirely it won't work but we might end up with a nice balance. I don't think we needed a tactical genius the players just need a rocket up their arses so we don't hand the oppo a 1-0 lead time and time again.
We can but hope mate. I’ll get over it in time to support at next home game, but I think it’s a horrific appointment. Believe me I hope he proves me wrong and I’m open to that.
