I hope so. Sorry like but if it's them then Donald can piss off. Nothing against them, by the sounds of things they're good supporters of the club, but if you're trying to ultimately get back to the PL you need decent sized investment, people who can afford to spend quite a lot on infrastructure, can ultimately cope with losing tens of millions if things go wrong. I can't believe they're anywhere near that league and if you've just attracted some multi billionaires why would you then, instead of hoping to attract others of that ilk, suddenly just get some relatively (on a global scale) small time investors who can't really help push us towards the PL.

It would reek of Donald preferring us to be small time as long as he can stay in charge, of refusing to give up his chance for a major pay day in return for doing the right thing by the club, which he has always said he will. If he won't step aside for a massive opportunity for the club then the statement that he will is bollocks. If that statement is bollocks, how can we trust any of his other statements?

It might not happen, I'm just discussing a rumour, but if there's any chance that he could get the major investment we need into the club then he needs to be doing it as long as they aren't looking to shaft him. Take a fair profit for the work done but accept you haven't done enough, and likely won't do enough, to deserve a multi million pound pay day. Fingers crossed that they haven't walked away and that Donald will see sense, but I'm not holding out much hope. It's all going very sour very quickly

I appreciate the info but as we (me especially) found out yesterday there's a world of difference between a post on a message board and truth.

    Is this correct?
Have they definitely withdrawn from talks?

No amount of spin will be able to sell to the fans that him staying on and getting investment from people with much much less money will be better for the club than 3-4 billionaires.

Regardless of what is given as the official reason, if this is what happens (and again we don’t know yet) it will be pretty obvious that he doesn’t care as much about the club as he has claimed since he came in.

    Cheers for the reply.
If they’ve definitely pulled out because of him wanting his own way after agreeing a price then he’s a twat. Their plans were huge and another club looks likely to prosper with them.

If Donald sold another league up the e closer to the riches of the premier league he would likely earn more money. I firmly believe that this is about Donald making more money not the best interested of the club. He’s a money hungry business investor not the altruistic saviour of our club.

    Still this ^
It was a stupid comment and no doubt exaggerated. There would be a huge backlash though, and lots of anger in SD's direction.

‘Death warrant’ is ridiculous language to use. What it does do is open up Donald to new levels of pressure and scrutiny ...
1 If we have plenty for this season as per his comment then his actions taken on managerial appointment , back room team and investment in players needs to back it up and if not questions need to be asked
2 If as he says he is making business decisions for ‘the best interests of the club’ I for one would like a definition - to me that would mean we have financial resources to strengthen short medium and long term scouting and player recruitment, strengthen the academy and under 23 set up, strengthen the first team, have a stable manager and team that tackle the now and prepare us for the next step, that his decisions are taking into account both the realities of fans (local income of supporters) but also the aspirations of supporters not just his own.
My instinct is ‘best interests’ to him mean I’m in control long enough to maximise my own and my companies financial investment . That is his legal duty as director of the club sadly and to ensure he considers the rest of us he requires scrutiny and pressure from us online and via supporters groups. I’d like to know a timescale of when DD ends and the answers are given - it’s important to respect it if there are genuine high level negotiations going on but an easy thing to hide behind and I’d like him to know the second it closes he will be scrutinised by the people who also invest their minuscule riches to be in the stands and have a right to down benefits from their own investment in his ‘get behind us’ narrative.

The funny thing is how did he all not expect this to happen, take over falls on its arse, end up with a bunch of likely lads invest in the club and to top it off a middle of the road manager.

Far cry away from MSD and BSA. Sunderland eh

It's irresponsible to put something like that and really surprised it hasn't been pulled.

So, are we saying now that the Americans have totally pulled out and the O'Briens are talking about investing?

Im not saying that mate, I've heard absolutely nothing since my last 'don't panic' message a week ago. That was from someone with a personal financial interest in the American buy out going forward.

Of course he's highly biased but still seems confident that things can progress. I'm just backing off until the latest firestorm dies down.

I was told about another party doing due diligence, a week ago, but that doesn't automatically mean the Americans have gone.

Nor does it mean the new people have the means or intention to go ahead with any investment or whatever

It's very easy for assumptions to be construed as fact and for posts to be misinterpreted, deliberately or otherwise ...

    ... as I've found out.

Surely that shouldnt ne a surprise to anyone.
From day 1 it was clear he was full of it and the fans were drawn in.
It was cringeworthy to be honest.
' oh he gets us. He wants to engage and communicate with us. Oh he knows we are a big club in waiting with fantastic fans.' He played the fans like an old fiddle.
Just like we all fell for bents badge kissing.
Fans fall for this football flim flam time and time again.
Football attracts the venal in society.Donald couldnt give a tinkers cuss about us, in the same way the glaizers couldn't give a monkey's about man utd other than the cash flow it provides their myriad of loss making businesses
Donald wants to make a quid first and foremost

The mods on here at least the Sunderland mods are just normal blokes (relatively anyway) with jobs and lives so it might take a bit of time for them to take action on something.

That's what one bloke reckons. I don't see any reason to panic or even believe a word of it.

Thing is we can't afford to be stuck with him for a decade, the club won't exist if we are. Ashley on the other hand, despite what they say, is more than funding that club and running it as a decent business

This is true. He’s been mostly professional and respectful enough about it to be fair though his Maja for money mistake was a sign for me. I never doubted his intentions. There is money in football and where there is money there are ****e hawks.
