So the truth about the EU’s insistence on the backstop is emerging. France and Germany have both expressed concerns about the UK becoming an economic superpower along the lines of China and USA on their doorstep. No wonder they want to keep the UK in the customs union. Now they want a level playing field. We need to get out ASAP.
