I have to say Smug (and I have backed you all the way ) Monday morning came and nothing was released What happened
How long ago ? Sgt Wilko won the league title before he came to us. Why has Pearson been in the wilderness for so long ?
Second thoughts and people jostling for position. Pearson, as I've said, would want to bring his own staff with him which is costly. He'd also want control as I've also said. Parkinson would agree to a contract until the summer and accept existing staff. If it's a question of finance Parkinson will get the job I'm afraid. Donald seems to treasure hands on control and he'd have that with Parkinson. Edit: I'm not saying I wasn't wrong about yesterday BTW. I was either given incorrent info or circumstances changed. As I guess I'd say it's either Donald being indecisive or he has 'outside influence'.
The current staff are part of the failure, why the **** would Donald want to keep them. Parkinson is that desperate for a job, he doesn’t have any demands. What sort of manager is that. The piss taking party hasn’t stopped has it
I think Stendel comes without any risk at all, he gained promotion from league one at the first attempt in his first job in English football. His team played free flowing, high pressing and entertaining football. His team conceded the lowest nunber of goals in the process. This season he has been completely underminded with the board selling his best players when going into a higher league. He would be an instant breath of fresh air and would transform the club. What goes against him then? He won't have had the matey chat that someone like Parkinson could have with Coton, a bit reminisce of playing away at Doncaster on a wet Tuesday night and everyone being matey matey. If he wants the job Stendel should get it a million times out of a million before someone like Parkinson who has 2 relegations on his CV.
He last managed IN England 3 year ago and has spent 2 of those years in management in Belgium. He's hardly been in the wilderness
My problem with SKP is that he is indeed a risk - but also that he is a motivator for the fans not the players, as someone like Keane was to both. I'm not sure that the Keane type is what we need right now, and I don't know a lot about most of the proposed managers... but who ever comes in needs to command some respect, it's vital now.
That's a very good point. Tbh I forgot about him when I wrote my post. Having said that, I feel he's in the same bracket as SKP, without the history. He's still relatively inexperienced but I'd be happy if he was appointed.
He's mates with donald from the eastleigh days. He is Donald's link to jumpers for goalposts, hobnail footy boots and footballs with laces etc etc that donald believes adds to his footy cred. Doanld in truth is just like his mate methven...a silver spoon hooray henry
Problem is the chuckle brothers ( coton and hill ) are already involved and that is why stendel ie so far out of the running. Stendel ie a young modern manager who espouses modern football. The chuckles like and promote hoofball and prefer their managers to be native english speakers. While they remain with any influence we remain also rans in this pub league playing anti diluvian era football.
This is a dream for many for all the wrong reasons. Pearson is the epitome of the no nonsense disciplinarian who will sharp beat any of the prima Donnas into shape or have them shipped out. So many believe this sergeant major crapola is the panacea. It is not and hasnt been since the 70's. Ferguson got away with it to a limited extent but he wielded such power at OT he was allowed to get on with it. It helps when you have a large squad and always have talented players to step in. Skp...yada yada yada! Yes he is going to walk in and in a group laying on of hands the squad will be transformed into Peter Reid no fear swashbucklers. Strikers will score for fun, midfielders will spray Hollywood passes at will and defenders will all be like stam and cannavaro. Its romantic reminscent bilge.
Let’s not overlook that the players attitude isn’t an issue, it’s more their ability. A disciplinarian won’t change that. We need a coach and a man manager who makes the lads feel as if they can beat anyone.
I take it you weren't at Peterborough, Bolton or Lincoln. We didn't come off having fought to the death in any of those games.
