I'd suggest that it would be right for him to move on if the takeover goes through. I have nothing but gratitude for the role he has played as a custodian of our club, but I think there's always going to be an element of Donald being on borrowed time under new owners with their own ideas. I genuinely believe Donald has the best interests of the club at heart but there are decisions he has made that new owners will want to change (recruitment personnel being the key one) and I don't think anyone's ego would withstand that very well.
Sad to say but I'm a little suspicious of these alleged death threats tbh. Every time he backs himself into a Twitter corner the supporters get the blame. Same as Methven with his Wembley comments. Sorry lads but this is starting to wear thinner than Shearer's follicles.
I’m with you I think he’s way out of his depth and dealing/negotiating with a group of billionaires potentially haggling over a few millions (peanuts to them) could be his undoing because if he does **** this up and the truth will out he’ll get lynched
I don’t think he should stay. His footballing decisions have been poor - look at the likes of Hill and Coton still here making the same mistakes as our previous owner in signing players that we can’t shift on, there appears to be no long term plan for the academy sides and the results across the U18 and U23 teams have been disgusting this past two seasons, and some of his contradictory public announcements just leave me thinking he’s in over his head.
That's exactly what I think we have a massive fan base all round the world that follows sundSunder! He has done some silly things on social media and I'm happy he's off it now! My opinion is he's sold up and they don't want him and he's spat his dummy out
I dont think he has sold up though. He is still the owner. The latest words have stressed investment not takeover. He still wants to be main man. If he had sold he would not be calling the shots or doing managerial interviews
I think he means well and to a degree he has helped halt the decline. When he joined he guaranteed more transparency but sadly his attempts on twitter have somewhat backfired. Twitter. His intentions were good but probably now realises this was a mistake. He has made his best efforts. Having said that if he moves on I will not be particularly bothered. I have no axe to grind with him.
Lets face it nobody is going to get every decision right, SD and CM have has been very good for the club and the vast majority of fans are still on board, Ross was not a total failure but was, due sometimes to circumstances beyond his control, taking too long to turn it around, main reason being Griggs abject performances since arriving at the club. But we are now so close to having a team that should get us out of this league, the last thing we want is another total upheaval, and I still stand behind SD & CM so lets give them a chance and see where we are at the end of the season.
So given the squad we had and have you would still seem it acceptable if we go another season in this pub league?
The biggest mistake he has made is not sacking Ross after the playoffs, looking at the league this morning we are mid table in the third tier ffs
After this poor start to the season, no one could disagree, but that is hindsight, tbh its a shame we could not have swapped managers at half time. The good news is that Ipswich apart, no one is more than two results away from us and there is a long long way to go. Nil Desperandum.
I think the academy, which should be our strongest asset, as it was when Stockdale was around. Is now in disarray since his departure, and in my mind this was probably Donalds or Ross's first mistake, but on balance we are in a much better position now than when he arrived, so deserves our support imo.
The academy has been dog5hit the past 2 or 3 years at least. That now looks like it needs a complete overhaul. We are getting whupped just about every game.
I think play offs are best we can hope for now unless we really splash the cash and get a proper manager in. Fans are fed up with the stodgy unimaginative hoofball that has been a staple for so long but which ross really embedded. I think they might tolerate another year if the football was of a brand advocated by stendel and played by barnsley last season. We may not win every game but at least we wont leave with bleeding eyes as we did with ross
