So, what is happening with this fella ? I understood his involvement was to ensure further investment as we moved up through the leagues. Wasn’t he going to make sure we could compete in the Championship ? When was he last at a match ? What is happening with him ? His failed attempt at El Presidente in his home country failed a long time ago. Is he helping us out or what ? I realise no,one can categorically state what he is doing but what do we think ?
Thanks for the response. My thoughts are that something has changed regarding him. He was supposed to be our investor when we reached the Championship, was he not ?
I believe so You might have nailed it. Maybe he'll become more active once we do. Maybe SD and CM are looking for investment to buy him out?
I think he's a bit of a ****ing mentalist tbh. Gets involved with an English football club saying he's going to bring loads of Uruguayans here, seemingly not realising that, for any without dual passports, they've got **** all chance of a work permit. Then after less than a year decides to sell his cannabis business, then decides to try and be president of Uruguay. Sorry like, but that's something you should be planning more than a year in advance. Suddenly he has **** all to do with us, no sign of him at games (Wembley aside), no talk of investment. Then he loses the ballot thing to be candidate for his party and still goes on about politics. Basically we were his thing for all of two minutes then he's moved onto the next thing, there'll probably be something else after that. Don't want him involved tbh, just not committed or reliable in the long term
It seems like that. If we could rely on his investment when we are promoted, why are our owners so actively seeking alternative investment ? Makes you wonder.
Good point. The fact that our owners are so actively seeking fresh investment would appear to indicate that Sartori either doesn't want to know anymore, or is not prepared to stump up anything like what would be required if we do go up.
If I had to guess, that's the investment Donald wants, someone to replace Sartoris 20% because he can't be arsed anymore. Someone with the money to increase that later, like Sartori was going to. Maybe now finding that most want the full thing if they're going to get involved, or certainly the deciding vote on things!
He always seemed the excitable type didn't he and he's lived up to it, it's far from ideal for an investor in a business to sign up then immediately pour all their time and money into something totally irrelevant. Donald's probably thinking it was a waste of time getting him involved.
Not satisfied with already being billionnaires and having low friends in high places, it appears the desire for even a modest profit is unquenchable. Yes the club needs investment, probably new owners but there needs to be a line drawn somewhere.
I spoke to him (Juan) at the Charlton away game when he was in our end followed closely by the Sunderland till I Die camera crew. He certainly was enjoying the day after scoring in the penalty shoot out at half time That was before the elections and he failed to get to the next round of voting for the opposing party. He has said that he wants to continue with the politics so I suspect that we might not see much of him this season.
Sounds like he has ADD. "Oooh a football club! Goodbye Mary Jane farm! I want to be President!" He could also have been a way for SD to show they had enough money to run the club
Could he not be the one holding up the investment/take over? He owns 20% of the club, what if the Americans want him out but he's playing hardball? Lots of theories about SD moving the goalposts etc (all based on nothing), when there could be another explanation.
It's all speculation and when we're talking millions we're talking greed. Given sartori is or is from a uruguayan billionnaire dynasty and his father in law is a russian billionnaire oligarch I am not sure he needs the money so badly. Then again they reckon Warren Buffett still takes a packed lunch to work in his 80's so there is no underestimating penny pinchers
He's a business man, he'll be looking to make the most of his investment. With 20% ownership, he could be making the takeover difficult. I'm just surprised that more isn't being made about his role in negotiations.
@FulwellBri exactly All this speculation and conspiracy theories on Donald/Charlie about them causing the takeover problems, despite them having done right by the club so far, but nobody mentioning the guy we know nothing about.
I had massive hopes for this lad when he joined in. I really thought it would be him as owner, or as pointed out by SD one of the big time billionaires he knows personally. I did not expect CM to be the one who started the Dell boy talks, with him being a lot less rich, for want of a better word. It was also CM who knew Ellis in the first place mind. Salmon pants certainly moves in big circles, whatever anyone thinks of him
