Oh well, better team won, especially on the second half performance. Lennon, you better get that defence sorted out or you'll win **** all. We've gone from having the tightest defence last season to a defence that looks like you could walk through and score. The Rangers 4th goal perfectly summed up how bad our defence is. Utterly pathetic. And I ****ing hate Samaras. Utter waste of a jersey
Fraser Forster has a lot to answer for as well - how many goals can a keeper concede without actually moving in any way towards the ball? That wee Algerian had a few bombscares too, two horrendous pass backs.
If that's the standard of the opposition this season, we can probably take the 10-point penalty for going into administration and still win the league.
Aye it should've been a cricket score, that second half was sickening the amount of chances we squandered. If that's all Celtic can offer then 4 in a row is ours.
Can we now all agree that we needed to strengthen in the summer and failed miserably And looking at todayss team, I thought our bench looked stronger than our starting line up
4-2 made it look respectable for Celtic. Lafferty was onside for the goal (someone else in the middle who wasn't in the play was offside) and McGregor gifted a goal. On another day it could have been 5-1. I think Celtic had got too accustomed to Walter and his more defensive set up and today Rangers just bossed Celtic the entire game except for a short spell before half time when they got their goals. At no point did I think Rangers were in trouble...Celtic just looked completely ordinary. Samaras is a lazy ****e apart from about a 20 second spell when he was busy pushing Naismith in the face. Mulgrew wasn't smart enough after getting booked and had to lunge in. Ki, was about an hour into the game before I even realised he was playing. For Rangers Edu was pretty poor...too many bad touches and not really doing much in the middle of the park. Was impressed by Whittaker and Naismith down the right and the young lad Wylde looked hungry to have a go. Lafferty as usual was busy heading it 10 feet over the bar most of the game but got his goal and should have had the other that was ruled out unfairly. Looking at that, I don't see Celtic getting close to Rangers again this season...they were woeful.
It's not about the quality of your players. It's the quality of the team that matters. For years Celtic fans have said they've got the better squad and you might be right. But the Rangers team is a solid unit. Even after McGregors howler they stuck at it, didn't lose their cool, worked hard and punished Celtic. Celtic on the other hand had a gift, but after half time they didn't even come out to play and ended up conceeding 3 (should have been 4 because of poor linesmen), got a guy sent off and basically caused no trouble.
Im not too worried, both poor teams and they will beat each other in the home games, Celtic dominated the Old Firm games last year and still lost the league so one game isnt going to decide anything.
I can't see Celtic troubling Rangers at all this year. They had no enthusiasm, skill or hunger today. Just played it around, got a gift of a goal and then imploded in the 2nd half.
Agree RB. A gutless performance, tactics non-existent and quite simply beaten by the better team on the day. Ranger's energy and Celtic's lack of it was hard to take -could Thursday's game really have taken so much out of them? Anyway, there's a long way to go - just got to hope that it's another lesson learned by Neil (I'm at a bit of a loss to understand what he was thinking of today - though it seems he may not have adjusted to the fact that Walter Smith has gone!)
we were ****e, they made us look ****e but I don't necessarily see it as indicative of how things will go for the rest of the season.
