    Great post mate.

I know Stendel has only managed Barnsley, but they are a step up from Wycombe. Barnsley for me are a championship level club.

He won 17 out of 34 in the Bundesliga according to Wiki whilst managing Hannover.

A very impressive record indeed at a smaller club at that level.

Cook is fairly inoffensive but I've never warmed to him. Ainsworth is just a geezer type like a younger mans Holloway. Stendel stands out with the football he plays, younger squads, can bring the fans together (good luck with that though at Sunderland) but I still wish for Hughton.

Agree. Not sure what it is just doesn't seem a good fit.

    Good post
Knowing league one probably means you've spent to long in the lower leagues.
We need someone who can handle the club, get us out of the league quickly and move us on
Stendel for me is ideal. He's had a season in the league and got out but his management style and tactics aren't grounded in lower league football
Think he could take us on.
Mind you I thought that about Ross

All we know about Cook is he has the right fuel to ignite Griggs after mabaging him before.

His transfer dealings are decent aswell. He signed Lowe from Pompey when lots of other clubs wanted him.

Quite a lot actually unless you’re very naive about these things and believe everything he says is how he’d have felt had Coventry not offered him a new deal. Chances are he used SAFC to get himself more cash from Coventry then came out with “I never wanted to leave” to appease the fans. Had he spoken to us and turned us down thenthats totally different, but his words are only that. They mean nothing

If he says “yeah I want to leave but Coventry won’t let me” he looks a complete twat to the fans and club. So he has not turned us down effectively or otherwise unless, as I say, you think he’s being completely honest and not just saying what keeps people happy.

Chances are he said to the board “what’s in it for me if I stay?”

But ross was a below average pro player and only ever managed at scottish pub league level ( not much better than semi pro )
Stendel has played and managed in one of the best leagues in the world and at a high standard.
He knows how the game should be played and put that to practice straight away in a team that was on the ropes and it worked a treat.
Far far better pedigree than ross in all respects.

You seen a lot of Barnsley in Australasia then Des? Did you see how we hammered them for 60 minutes at the Ssol?

Just had a look through a load of the forums on facebook and have concluded that no one will be deemed acceptable by many of our supporters.

And that, in a nutshell, is one major problem with SAFC!! Everyone wants someone big, someone they’ve heard of, someone with Premier League experiences. I’ll back fully whoever comes in. Even Ainsworth if it’s him, regardless of who I want, but a number of our fans will turn up his first game and, if we don’t play sparkling football and win by 3 clear goals, he won’t be right!

    We didn’t.

We were comprehensively outplayed but we were ruthless that night.

We could and should have taken a pasting, same at their gaff when we somehow got a draw.

I'd be happy with Stendel, mind, and I'd never heard of him until earlier this week :emoticon-0105-wink:

Disagree sir, we had the first 30 minutes easily, then they had the next 30, then we had the end..

We shall beg to differ on this squire, and nowt wrong with that.

I thought they were comprehensively the best side we faced at home last season.

Totally agree Nads; I was at both games and we were totally outplayed. It was easy to see why they got promoted and we didn't
