You guys must feel really hard done by, I'd like to take this opportunity to apologise on behalf of LFC. Serious question, do you think that had you won the CL final the "narrative" would be different now?
Then what if anything do you think could change the "narrative"? I'd be pissed if I thought deepdown no matter what my team done the powers that be would never allow my team to win a thing. Quite a depressing thought tbh.
Nobody's said anything about the powers that be preventing anyone from winning anything. That's in your head.
Oh. So the narrative puts you at a disadvantage, as do the refs, if what you say is true certain teams get decisions spurs would never get right? All that said... Being spurs fan must be ****ing awful, the whole world is against you winning anything.... forever apparently. Just sounds like a bunch of sour grapes to me tbh. No offence but it always seems that your teams failings are always someone else's fault.
Your team gets more penalties than anyone, despite never having been the best team in the Premier League. Refs openly admit to influencing tactics from clubs and making poor decisions in big games. You don't like it being discussed because your club benefits from it, something that you admit to being happy about. That's why you have to imagine this "the whole world is against you winning anything.... forever", despite already being told that's not the case. It's the typical dishonesty that we've come to expect when such issues are raised.
I have no problem discussing it mate why am I here now? And I don't think I've ever said I was happy about this so called "narrative" tbh. I did say I'd be happy if we got "given" pens from now til end of season, imho you missed the boat when the opportunity came to change the "narrative" I believe had you won the CL you'd now have all of England and every pundit on TV creaming about poch and spurs and also how Klopp has won nothing in 4 years ect. So I do believe that the narrative can change, but only with success.
To shut down discussion by ****ting on the idea, claiming something that nobody has said and making out it's a paranoid fantasy.
In 2016 we never led the league ... arsenal beat Leicester and were top in January. The whole of football says spurs bottled the title. In 2017 we never led the league...we won 9 games on the trot from March onwards but lost the 10th (then won the final 3) meaning we won 12 out of the final 13 matches yet we were again said to have bottled it. The sky sports presenter actually called our loss in a live match a bottle job on the night. You were 7 or 8 points clear of city last season yet every pundit agrees that you can't calm Liverpool bottlers. This is the attitude that pisses fans off. I don't bother with it tbh as I think they are simply paid wums generating money through clicks, texts or calls. Another example comes from the absolute slaughtering of Harry Ksne and Lamela after the penalties at Anfield 2 years ago. It was embarrassing watching grown arse "professional" journos throwing their toys out of the pram and calling them cheats. Within weeks everyone agreed they were penalties. Like I said mate...personally I couldn't give a **** as theose twats can not stop me enjoying my football but for them to pretend they are bring insight is a joke.
I just offered you my opinion on how the narrative can change and you accused me of shutting down conversation. Can't win
You offered an impossible to prove hypothesis, while claiming that people were saying something that nobody has said.
And yet when Fabinho blatantly does cheat against Newcastle during a key fixture in the title chase... nothing. Funny that.
There's no need to be so defensive mate I'm not here to dismiss, shut down or argue. The same argument could be said about your own "narrative" it's impossible to prove, no matter how many pens/decisions given or not given over so many years or how obvious the bias may seem. I wasnt denying what you say just offering my opinion on how the narrative could change. And for me the only way you become "media darlings" or the only way to get that narrative singing your tune would be on pitch success. Which ultimately is where you have failed to deliver. (see comment in previous post about the CL final) In the 90s most pundits were ex Liverpool players due to being successful in the 70s and 80s, now its a lot of ex utd players from the 90s and 00s. That's where the narrative comes from or at least where anyone would and hear & see it most. Which brings me back to the point, the narrative won't change unless you have some sustained on field success imo. Because that's where it comes from in the 1st place, It's not a conspiracy imo but simply the results of domination from utd and Liverpool before that. I do agree that pundits from all teams are biased and show it often with the exception of a few. What do you expect tho really? Motd to employ Joe blogs as a pundit instead of England legend Alan shearer. As for refs being influenced by the narrative, sure that happens, it's human nature to be influenced by others, so of course it must. VAR could be used in such a way that ref bias wouldn't be a factor. But then you would probably moan about the var being biased in some way too, son being offside by a whisker springs to mind. Chelsea for example now, the media is loving this Frank's kids ****, and had you won the CL you'd be the media darlings of the month and Klopp would be dogshite. In a nutshell,You won't get rid of it. So stop crying and win some trophies basically
And doing this cost Rachel Riley her role with Sky Amazingly she didn't accuse them of antisemitism...
