Aims Extinction Rebellion's website, at the time of the group's inception in the UK, stated the following aims: Government must tell the truth by declaring a climate and ecological emergency, working with other institutions to communicate the urgency for change. Government must act now to halt biodiversity loss and reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net-zero by 2025. Government must create, and be led by the decisions of, a citizens' assembly on climate and ecological justice. When the movement expanded to the US, a further demand was added to that group's list: "We demand a just transition that prioritizes the most vulnerable people and indigenous sovereignty; establishes reparations and remediation led by and for Black people, Indigenous people, people of color and poor communities for years of environmental injustice, establishes legal rights for ecosystems to thrive and regenerate in perpetuity, and repairs the effects of ongoing ecocide to prevent extinction of human and all species, in order to maintain a livable, just planet for all."
I think the term you used was 'not viable yet'. So that's about transitioning from where we are today, to make it viable in the future. I think the whole point of XR is that not enough is being done quickly enough by Govt and big corps. Yes there are some really good initiatives starting to happen, but a lot more needs to be done, a lot quicker. As I said, we still rely on 80% fossil fuel worldwide, yet the technology for sustainable energy production is there and yet we still only produce 5% of energy from renewables.
As I've said before, good cause, bad way of protesting Drive over a few, and you'll probably find that they're not so keen to lay in the road.
How do you go about it then? Sadly it’s a net vote loser for governments, even before vested interests, and therefore isn’t prioritised enough.
Surely the most logical route is via the Green Party, because at least if they got into power, you can hold them accountable. Protest groups such ER have no accountability to their demands. Hence you need to persuade voters, but you are certainly not going to do that by pissing them off. My fear for what you would like is certainly one of concern. you highlighted an electric plane that is more a private jet, hence not available to the masses. We now live in a world of travel, should we really be changing that, so it's just available to the rich. You can have it, if you can afford it. And good luck with todays modern world, telling them that you are bringing an end to globalisation and freedom of movement, because by current viabilities that is what is being requested.

Not easy I agree. But it's a starting point rather than an end point. The electric planes in production at the moment are a move in the right direction. With the political will, it can follow that it's available to everybody, and not just the rich.
i'd survive in the new world, used to grow all my own stuff anyway. I actually remember doing a piece one time on here, about growing stuff, and demonstrated that there would only be two months in the UK calander where you would struggle to harvest some type of fruit or vegetable, from memory I think it was Feb/March. Although even that is disputable with the warmer winters.
