Joey Barton has pleaded not guilty to causing Daniel Stendel actual bodily harm. Barton was charged following an alleged attack on former Barnsley manager Daniel Stendel following a match during last season. Police were called to the tunnel area of the stadium after Barnsley defeated Barton's Fleetwood Town 4-2 in a League One game on April 13 earlier this year. Barton, 36, of Widnes, Cheshire, is charged with causing actual bodily harm to Stendel and appeared at Barnsley Magistrates' Court on Wednesday. The Crown Prosecution Service said Stendel sustained damage to a tooth and required emergency dental treatment that is ongoing. His face allegedly struck a metal pole in the tunnel at Oakwell. Barton, who denies any involvement, will appear at Sheffield Crown Court on November 6.
I think he'll get off. I expect that there was a fracas involving quite a few and, whether he was the main culprit or not, it will be difficult to prove that he was in fact the chief instigator of the assault on the mans tooty peg.
Interesting that the magistrates said it was too serious a case for them to try and sent it instead to Crown Court. That suggests to me that if he's found guilty he'll be off to prison.

Video evidence of everything these days, doesn't matter how obscure an event is there's always someone filming it. If I dropped the shower gel on my foot in the shower I'd probably be on camera somewhere. Seeing as Jojo's gone down the total denial route, if he's on camera and there were multiple witnesses he's in trouble. Kind of makes you think he didn't actually do it as the more sensible option if blatantly guilty would be a 'heartfelt' apology etc.
He’s an idiot. He’s doing a brilliant job as a gaffer, which doesn’t surprise me as under the idiocy is a very, very intelligent fella. Same as his football career his character has handicapped him. He was a very good player as well and should have done more. I can see why Fleetwood wanna stick by him on that score, where he has them is extreme punching.
