Maybe it was his first chance to talk to him and wanted to tell him face to face. Rember there were rumours SD had been in the USA at the weekend.

Don’t agree, Ross's diary would have said, 10am Pre-match interview for SAFC.com; 1pm Chat with S.Donald. Very unlikely the media department on releasing the video after the interview would know anything at all about the later discussion and certainly not the potential outcome. Maybe I’m naive, but I just can’t see Donald sacking the manager because of a Sun article that he can just deny on Twitter. If anything the Ross sacking has brought more attention to the situation.

Definitely don't think it was diversionary. Let's say you wanted to employ a diversionary tactic, what would the purpose be? Quite obviously that you were going to deliver very bad news, you knew there'd be a backlash, so you wanted to release something a bit more positive as well to try and limit it.

That being the case you'd want to announce it right when dropping the bad news. "Takeover off, moving on, Ross sacked". What you wouldn't do is give the "good" news, and then say "talks are still ongoing I'll update on Friday" because if you do that and then give the bad news on Friday, the effect of the good news has already worn off, it defeats the purpose

I just don't think, bearing in mind the relationship they had, that the first Ross hears of a potential sacking would be a couple of hours before it hits the press. Donald said he'd been speaking to Ross, they'd agreed it might be best for all if they part ways. Just my opinion but I reckon that kind of discussion would happen in the day(s) leading up to the announcement, Donald has probably also talked with him about the pay off etc. I'd be amazed if it came out of the blue for Ross, although obviously I can't prove that.

If I was to sum up about takeover/investment... we know nowt. Except it is ongoing?

About the Ross sacking, we know that was a possibility...

Also we know The Sun is not even good enough to use as an asre wipe

Ask the bindippers and Ben Stokes

Quite. Nixon will have known that Ross on the knife edge of a sacking, plus it would be very dangerous to assume that a businessman would not sacrifice an employee to land a golden egg for the business

I don't think its necessarily on/off in my mind, but you read a positive bit of news... you're up, then there's a **** piece of news and you're rock bottom. Madness! :1980_boogie_down::emoticon-0121-angry :cheesy:

Good point, but don't you think Donald would've pulled the plug on safc.com of the pre match Jack Ross interview, if he'd had time to prepare for the sacking?

Like you were delighted when you heard yesterday.

  12. I think it's much more likely that Donald might have had a chat with Ross,....say after the Rotherham or Bolton match..... and agreed with him to give it until after the Lincoln match for improvement and to see where we are. It's about a quarter way through the season, the Fleetwood game was always likely to be postponed, which gives a bit of time before Wycombe. I'd be surprised if the proposed takeover had anything to do with it,other than Donald being busy with it, which is why he didn't get to Ross until yesterday.

Interesting how Nixon is the only one in the press who claims to know it's off
Local rags repeating this but absolutely no other journalists claiming anything

Has he got a real scoop or is he being played

Ross must have known his job was at risk, but he still didn't change his way of setting up the team. He was seemingly so adamant his way was the way forward, stubborn stubborn man....
