Maybe cos he has been our greatest ever captain? If we are comfortably winning then there is no reason why we can't show our appreciation.
 
Im not saying he doesnt deserve better but many great player have left and upon their return recieved similar treatment to what I mentioned and the comment was intended tongue in cheek. But I fear I maybe close to the truth especially if he sticks a dodgy challenge in.
 
Didnt force him out just made it clear he would have to work harder to get a contact extension as the were not willing to open up discussion till the end of season
 
To the tune of 'he used to be a bouncer' a la Brabin. 'he used to be a Tiger' repeat. Simple and effective!
