Never really thought about it. Just gone where the work has taken me. When the work dries up I will go back to the UK as am not far off retirement age now. My Indonesian wife is happier living in the UK and both our kids are working there. We own property and I can now get an Indonesian residence visa as I am married to an Indonesian that allows me to live here indefinitely so we can come back again for extended holidays.

I would be very careful about that. Heard some horror stories about non-Balinese people buying land and building properties there, particularly if its as a holiday home.
