PMQs: Diane Abbott fluffs first question in awkward scenes - ‘Continue, quick!' please log in to view this image DOMINIC RAAB kicked off today's Prime Minister’s Questions today, which soon erupted into a bizarre turn of events. Dominic Raab and Diane Abbott are standing in for their respective leaders, as Boris Johnson gives a keynote speech at the Tory conference. But PMQs kicked off to a bizarre start as Ms Abbott stumbled over her first question to Mr Raab. She appeared confused as the Foreign Secretary stood up before she had a chance to ask her first question. MPs then awkwardly laughed as Ms Abbott appeared flustered, before presenting her first question to the Commons. The Speaker appeared to mock the Labour shadow minister saying "she appears to have already asked her six questions".
Should have said you were being funny, when it's not plane to see, maybe you should add a so we know when to laugh.
Watching the Luton v millwall game, commentator said Izzy Brown has been a revelation at no 10 for them this season.
The revelation is he’s not injured. I had high hopes last season, but we never really got to find out.
A few comments to add re. last nights' game. @ristac , difficult to assess Klich on the telly. A lot of what he does will be off-camera, but i do endorse what has been said. He's a diamond. Gets a wee bit leggy now & again towards the end, but that comes as no surprise due to his efforts. Not sure if it was noticed by many, but (and I don't know if this was for the whole half) Harrison played left back in the second half. Alioski did a close marking job, mostly infield. Unless we attacked, then they reverted to type. I'm hopeful that Shackleton will be back soon. He took a hit as he was steaming through the middle. Must have been about 10 mins to half time. He got clipped running through, but managed to ride it. Not sure sure if it was the hit, or perhaps him over-stretching to recover his balance, but immediately after, he held his left hammy. I commented that he wouldn't be out for the second half, and sure enough he didn't. But what he did do was play on for that 10 mins or so, & you'd never guess he was injured. I'm guessing (& hoping) he just had a tight hammy & was taken off as a precaution). I wasn't that clever with my sub predictions, btw, as I said that Alioski wouldn't be out for the second half as he was looking at a red. And as mentioned elsewhere, he should have got one. Luckily for him the play continued for some time & at the end of the phase he got a shirricking from the ref. I truly believe he'd have been off if that passage of play had been shorter. And he'd have deserved it. Might be a load of nonsense on my part - especially with my eyesight - but I thought Roberts looked a bit leggy fairly just before he got subbed. Also thought he was looking a bit heavy of thigh. Not so sure this is a good thing. Perhaps it's a result of his rehab for his knee & will sort itself out. Wish he'd get rid of the Minnie Mouse haircut though - makes KP's efforts look regular. No-one seems to have mentioned Kiko out on the wing again - up towards the halfway line. Recklessly, imo. Fair enough if he hit it to row Z, but he tried to be clever & hit it up the left. Didn't work & was a helluva rush to get back. Made a worldy save too (but can't remember if it was as a result of this or not - think it prolly was though). Ball was going over his head into the net & he somehow stretched back to catch - yes, catch! - the ball, but the best bit was the way he avoided falling back into the net. Can't describe properly the way he managed to anchor briefly then throw himself away from goal whilst holding the ball. He'd had another excellent save earlier. Either of the two could easily have been a goal, so imo, he redeemed himself for Saturday's palaver. Learned one thing about Costa that I didn't know. If you're wanting to see him put in a good tackle, or a good defensive performance, then you've got a long wait. He's just one of these luxury players that you'll just need to accept it, imo. Should have been a penalty apiece, btw, Ours has been covered, but one of our players (can't remember who) blatantly shoved one of their players well into the penalty box. Obvious to us at the halfway line. Fortunately the ref was one of the poorest we've had in a long while. And no, it's not that old chestnut again - we've had some really decent refs recently, unlike last season where I'm convinced they were having a competition to see who could get away with the worst ever performance. There were a lot of contenders. This one was terrible from the off - and it's not bias, as we gained from his ineptitude too.
Think you're spot on again about Costa. I guess I was excited by the signing because with the way we dominate teams I just thought he'd take teams apart. Early days as he beds in maybe?
Also meant to add, and I don't know if it's correct, posted on JA by Jonty. Cooper out for six weeks, Shackleton for four.
Crikey! Cooper I expected longer. Shackleton, just WOW! I did not expect that. Shows you how good I am at assessing injuries! On the positive side, opportunity now presents itself for others. For Cooper, you'd think Berra would step in, no question. Knowing Bielsa, Kiko is a contender! For Shackleton, there are quite a few options. Not convinced that Forshaw would get the spot, even if fit. Too rusty. Will need to do time in the u23s, as per Dr Bielsa's orders. Wonder if we got an insight last night - Ayling back at RB, Dallas in the middle? Dark horse is Gotts, & I think he's earned his chance, but realistically, it's Dallas for me.
Don’t know if the time frame for injuries is correct, just quoting the JA poster. Interesting regarding Dallas. No doubting Bielsa likes and trusts him, I see he got the armband from cooper when he went off. If Kiko plays to form, Berra could be playing just behind him
I would imagine it will be Phillips, Klich and probably Roberts at 10. Has Bogusz finally found his chance to push himself into the squad? Hernandez might well come back and play centrally too.
Times frames are official. 'Up to' is there for optimists to pounce on! https://www.leedsunited.com/news/team-news/25615/injury-update
LOL. Last season, yes. This season, I'm not so sure. With a smallish squad, our injuries are more noticeable & therefore worrying. I take the positive view that the lads are getting a rest from the grindstone, and others are getting valuable game time in. Most of our stand-ins don't disappoint us, tbf (this season).
Not as bad as the injuries sound, don't forget the up coming international break, which makes it 4 and 2 week out for us.
