Good following from Cardiff. Mind you, a much bigger city than Hull and possibly not much going on there.
on a plus point, it appears we're no longer running out of steam halfway through a match. before the luton game, we'd got one second half goal in 7 games. we've now got four in two.
We seem to have swapped around our mentality in the last few games, the first halves seem to be to soak up pressure and tire opponents out and then push on in the second. Slightly more effective, but a very dangerous game to play if you end up going 2 or 3 down before the half. Defensively, we seem more solid and as long as our main centre halves stay fit, I'm more confident we'll pick up points. We're now unbeaten in four, that should be commended, even if three of them were draws we probably should have won.
10 games they say give a fair indication on league position. We’ve played 9 and sit 16th, personally whilst McCann insists the play offs are the target - we don’t have enough quality based on what I’ve seen so far. A bit porous at the back, non scoring centre forwards. Surely the wages of Magennis and Eaves would have paid for Campbell.
Absolutely agree it's tempting to think what might have been with Campbell, but he had been pretty injury prone most seasons except last and don't know what he was asking for. Obviously McCann just inherited the situation and at least he's trying to do something about it - Eaves was a proven striker albeit at a league below and might still come off, or Balogh might be the answer. But I agree the playoffs look a big stretch!
There was no injury issue with Campbell, he played 39 games for us last season and 38 games the season before.
I've said it before... he takes a good fight McCann....but I suspect Adkins would have managed to eek out more results than we have thus far and he, as well as Campbell are a huge loss to the club...
He’s 32 ffs. He often was subbed, unnecessarily, though Adkins realised that in the end and stopped pulling him on the hour mark.
Why do we bother playing a striker.they add very little. I'd move Bowen in and play bowler in a proper 433
The primary job of a striker is to score goals. But, failing that, they should be able to bring other attacking players into play. Eaves does this much more effectively than Magennis does, therefore Eaves should be playing. He'll score eventually anyway.
Or maybe the fixture list thinned out a bit and he was able to play for longer if there was no midweek game to follow?
