I was wondering if Seb couldn’t have stopped the car somewhere more sensible, or whether he did that to keep Charles back from another win. Hmmm.
Asher-Smith runs the race of her life and ends up with silver. Well done to all three medalists in the Ladies 100m, all well under 11.00 seconds.
Looking forward to Lyles in the 200m final. It is great to see the US coming back into contention in the sprints and 800m events. Always had a soft spot for US athletes in the sprints, growing up at a time when we had Bob Hayes, Jim Hines, Tommy Smith, Ed Moses, and then later on the God that is Carl Lewis and then Michael Johnson.
The non-existent crowds for the Athletics World Championship is shocking, though not surprising. You can't drop a major championship into a country where local support for it is minimal and there is little chance of attracting large numbers of fans from elsewhere. Sorry for the competitors...though Asher-Smith looked happy
Apparently they have been giving migrant workers free tickets and bussing them in to the stadium. I suppose it’s better than killing them in unsafe working conditions.
