As I'm sure you all know, we were superb today. Tactically we were spot on and Henry and O'Hara couldn't cope at all with our midfield. Hennessey made a superb save at 0-0 after a few minutes from a Bothroyd header and we generally looked very lively in the opening exchanges. After 10 minutes or so Barton scuffed one in after good work from the midfield and by the time I'd finished apologising to the bloke next to me for knocking half a balti pie out of his hand Faurlin scored a great long-range goal as the Wolves defence gave him roughly three days to pick his spot.

Straight up the other end Wolves went and the piss poor Karl Henry, albeit not the worst in a Wolves shirt on the day, that accolade going to left-back/nightclub doorman George Elokobi, hit the near post from a decent chance. SWP had a decent 1 on 1 chance a few minutes later which he could only stab towards Hennessey under pressure while Taarabt dithered slightly too long and was blocked when in a good position and Traore, a menace all day, went on a long, roaming run into the Wolves box which came to little.

Second half, Wolves made a couple of subs bringing off Elokobi and Kightly, who I didn't realise was playing, for Guedioura and Sam Vokes, a bloke who looked the business a couple of years ago but seems to have gone backwards if anything. Straight from the kick-off we pumped it towards the corner flag to the right of Hennessey's goal and Bothroyd got booked after catching Stearman with an elbow, allegedly, although the lack of consistency after an identical challenge late on on Barton was galling. Wolves huffed and puffed without troubling Kenny as the collection of ******s and mongs to our left got increasingly irate, particularly at the "we've got your benefits" chant- presumably annoyed their benefits are being paid, and retorted with the equally crap "town full of looters".

The game got a bit scrappy as the half went on to our advantage. We still looked good on the break though and SWP hit the post from 20 yards. Faurlin also got booked for dissent which was a bit pathetic as the ref had missed a clear foul earlier in the move. Had we not won I'd have berated him for seemingly feeling sorry for Wolves such was the succession of second half decisions, but, alas, I couldn't give a toss.

With five minutes to go, Traore got in behind and squared for sub Campbell to slot home. There was still time for Barton to be hacked down, right under the lino's nose, to no free-kick decision. Several of the aforementioned mongs took this opportunity to berate our excellent captain which was met by Barton sticking three fingers in the air. The mongs seemed impressed at his counting ability and applauded him hence forth. The perfect away performance.

Kenny- 7- had nothing much to do other than one very good save from a free-kick at 3-0.
    Young-8- solid, reliable, excellent.
    Gabbidon-8- ditto.
    Ferdinand-8- ditto
Traore-9- attacked and defended brilliantly imo
Derry-7.5- his usual industrious self. Did nothing wrong and swept up as well as ever.
Faurlin-9- different class. Made Henry look like a park player.
Barton-8.5- an extra half mark for riling the Wolves fans and doing the 'easy' clap after the game
Taarabt- 8- unselfish, productive. Looks to be happier with better teammates
SWP- 8.5- Always a threat, industrious. I want to adopt him.
Bothroyd- 8- won everything, unlucky not to score early on.

Campbell- 8- chased well, took his goal nicely
Smith- 7- usual industry and endeavour
Hall- 7- as much as I dislike him, he was very solid

Warnock- 10- spot on with subs and tactics.

Rangers fans- 9- in good voice.

Not at all. Great read and summary of the game from an ardent fan with an excellent knowledge of contemporary players and form.

    Always enjoy your analyses.

    good write up Watford.

i watched the game at my Wolves supporting mates bar ( does that make sense?) anyway, he got it on some arabic (i think? ) sports chanel that shows most PL games. i say i think it was arabic coz we couldnt have the sound on coz there were others in the bar who didnt want to listen to the game (probably in arabic anyway!), so it was a bit weird watching the game and listening to really crap music at the same time. none the less, the picture was spot on and it was great to see the superhoops play so well, and even better coz i got to rip the piss out of my mate who had predicted 3 2 Wolves!

i was so happy at the end that i even picked up the tab!

    CMON U Rssssssssssssssssss!

Great roundup. We were exceptional today, no wonder warnock is enjoying it. He deserves to lead a top quality side in the prem. Wolves on the other hand, look like us pre fernandes/transfers....surely another team that will finish below us?

Nice one Watford, you did us proud up there and sounded great on the telly. Can only fault you on one thing, it was Derry who had that early header destined for the top corner only for Hennessy to tip over. Couldn't believe what i saw after witnessing Derry spurned those headers on monday

Enjoyed the report - amazingly enough this match was televised live in Canada though my local television listings showed it would be Fulham and Man C (since that is tomorrow it would have been the trick of the week). Caused me to miss the first two goals....

Excellent game, excellent result to go with the report
