That was my point, it was the ref getting back at Aurier for taking the piss out of VAR. That is why we MUST be able to listen the all conversations between the ref and the VAR ref.
I think you have to take into account that the guy has had very limited opportunities since he joined Spurs and he maybe just tries too hard when he get's a start. I won't critisise him for that.
Agreed. It was a foul but never a yellow. What annoyed me more was how he and Winks just stopped playing, waiting for the throw in to be given. Probably the first thing you're taught as a kid is 'play to the whistle'. And in a league with officials as incredibly ****e as ours, this mantra is more important here than anywhere in world football. Relieved at the result and proud of the fight we showed to claim it. And how nice is it to finally have a CM who poses a real goal threat? It gives the opposition another player to worry about and gives the attackers another man to pick out in dangerous areas. Haven't had that since Ryan Mason tbh.
Sissoko should play right back...he can be trusted..his lack of technical ability isn't exposed as much and he was still making marauding runs with the ball...although by default he kept on running central as oppose to along the touchline but that could be trained out of him for that role Top pro is Sissoko
Yesterday reminded me of being at a match v luton (when they were a top division team!) in the late 80s. We were down to 9 men and either losing 1 nil or drawing one all. The flood lights failed for 10 minutes too. When they came on we went on to win 2-1. Paul Stewart was reslly struggling as a striker since his move to us from City the previous year. For that match (after the sendong offs) he was put into central midfield and it completely changed his spurs career as he was brilliant that day. He played there for the rest of his career if my memory serves me well.
And by highlights they mean the goals, plus a couple of good saves by Lloris. Doesn't even show the red card. I think they'll post a longer version later.
Graham Scott should stick to selling Cillit Bang, as his decision making was wildly inconsistent yesterday. Pretty sure we've got a 100% record when he's reffing though, so perhaps he should carry on with it! I feared the worst when I saw the diamond being used, then again when we went down to 10 and conceded a stupid, ludicrous goal. The remaining players really stuck at it and performed admirably under the circumstances, though. A gritty, grafting win that we desperately needed. The celebrations with Lloris at the end were nice, too.
Yes I thought this also, the referee maybe took offence at the VAR celebration and subsequently had no second thoughts about booking Aurier. Also the Saints players were persistently fouling all game with tactical fouls and none of their players went into the book until late in the game.
He's clearly the best right back at the club, having officially played only one half there. If Eric Dier can get it back together and up his athleticism, there could be a significant role for him once again. Against counter-attack sides his pace and power will be fabulous and allow us to get Ndombele and Lo Celso running from deeper positions. Against better teams, he has the speed, strength and doesn't dive in, which are talents that none of the other options can muster as a package. Taxi for Aurier...and KWP needs a loan in January.
I do think Sissoko would resemble a ‘wingback’ better than Dier. A solid back line and like you say...there’s a role their for Dier.
Dier can't play right back any more. However, with Sissoko out on the right it frees a place in the middle that Dier might play effectively against teams where we need more solidity, if he can get properly mobile again. In the last couple of seasons, he's moved round the pitch like me, after a day spent digging or heavily on the booze. Like that, he's not been deserving of a place on the bench. If only we had 2 Sissoko's!
Brilliant graphic placement for the cards, managing to obscure both replays of Aurier's fouls. Edited out the VAR celebration again, too. I take it that someone didn't appreciate it.
Does anyone get anything out of these? Perryman's half-time appearance gets a few seconds, but I suspect those that couldn't attend would prefer to see the whole thing.
I'd like to have seen more of Perryman but it was interesting to see the players from a slightly different perspective.
I enjoy all the behind the scenes stuff and some of the fan cams. Because I cannot get to games now it all helps to still feel part of it, if you know what I mean? I too would have loved to see Steve's whole interview. Your doing a grand job PNP, thanks.
